On the afternoon of May 17, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18). After 10 years of organization, Vietnam Science and Technology Day has become a festival for the science, technology and innovation forces nationwide.
According to Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, over the past 10 years, Vietnam Science and Technology Day has aroused, inspired and fostered a desire for creativity in the community, gradually forming a culture of innovation and nurturing a love of science among young people, contributing to building a society that respects science and creative thinking.
“With the role of state management, the Ministry of Science and Technology will advise the Government and the Prime Minister on mechanisms and policies to create a better environment and conditions for scientific research, development, application of technology and innovation,” said Minister Huynh Thanh Dat.
At the event of Vietnam Science and Technology Day, reporting to the Prime Minister, Dr. Phan Dang Phong, Director of the Institute of Mechanical Research, representing Vietnamese scientists, acknowledged the effective policies on science and technology that have been issued by the State.
Presenting his wishes, Dr. Phan Dang Phong hopes that Vietnam will have more enterprises possessing basic technology, creating momentum for Vietnamese science and technology to reach regional and world levels.
From the perspective of a young technology company, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tai, CEO of Lumi Vietnam Joint Stock Company, said that the Vietnamese business community reaching out to the world is still very small. This can be seen in the process of participating in foreign exhibitions.
Faced with the above situation, Mr. Tai hopes that in the near future, Vietnam will have more young businesses that dare to grow and export their products to the world. To do that, it is necessary to create aspirations for those who make Vietnamese products. CEO Lumi also recommends that the Government should have policies to support loans for young businesses.
Speaking at the Vietnam Science and Technology Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in the context of the strong development of the 4th industrial revolution, the role of science, technology and innovation is increasingly evident.
Vietnam’s science and technology has made important contributions in each historical period. During the war, scientists improved many types of weapons and researched medicines to fight diseases. In peacetime, scientists continued to make many contributions to the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that science and technology is the shortest path for Vietnam to achieve the goal of prosperity.
According to the Prime Minister, in recent times, the Vietnamese intellectual, scientific and technological team has been growing stronger. Many young researchers, scientists, and female scientists have made many contributions to the science and technology sector.
Vietnam’s science and technology market has taken initial shape and achieved positive results. At the same time, social sciences and humanities have also been promoted with many achievements. Sharing with scientists, the Prime Minister encouraged and motivated them to accept risks, boldly create and innovate.
