In recent years, attracting more and more businesses to invest in production development in the province has helped people have stable jobs, gradually solving the problem of "leaving agriculture but not leaving home" of localities.

My Thang commune (Nam Dinh city) develops the sewing profession, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers.

After the Lunar New Year 2025, Ms. Tran Thi Hanh, My Phuc commune (Nam Dinh city) decided not to return to Binh Duong province to work in the industrial park (IP) but to stay in her hometown and apply for a job at the computer and peripheral equipment factory of QMH Computer Co., Ltd. (under Quanta Computer Inc., Taiwan - China) with a starting salary of nearly 10 million VND. Ms. Hanh said: "Compared to the previous income when I was working in Binh Duong, it is not equal because I am just starting my job, however, with the experience of directly participating in and supervising the import and export process at warehouses, my current job is quite favorable and has the potential to develop further. What I am most happy about is that I get to work near home, the company's accommodation and overtime allowances are quite reasonable and I do not have to pay for accommodation and living expenses like when I worked far away like before". No longer having to pack up and go to work far away like in previous years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, 42 years old, in Cat Thanh town (Truc Ninh) has been able to find a job right in her hometown. Ms. Hien shared: “I work as a worker for Kiara Garments Vietnam Co., Ltd. located in the town, with a stable salary. Having a job close to home, I don’t have to worry about transportation when Tet comes, Spring comes, and I also live near my parents, and I have to take care of and raise my children, so I feel very secure. Moreover, at my age, finding a stable job is really difficult, because there are not many companies that recruit workers over 40 years old.”

Originally a near-poor household in the commune, in previous years, Ms. Tran Thi Hang, Xuan An hamlet, Hai Hoa commune (Hai Hau) had to leave her hometown to work as a garment worker in the South. However, living far from home, her children had to be sent to their grandparents for care and her savings were not much, so she and her husband decided to return to their hometown to start a business. With a loan of nearly 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, Hai Hau district branch and the TYM fund, she invested in factory equipment, machinery, and finding raw materials and sewing workers. She always focuses on training workers and technicians, improving designs, diversifying products to meet the requirements of orders, even the most demanding customers, creating prestige in the market, with a consumption of about 120-140 thousand products per month. Every year, she proposes to the Women's Union of the commune to coordinate in opening free vocational training classes for about 20 women at her family's garment factory. Many students after training have the skills to work at companies, some continue to be hired right at the factory or bring their products home to make. She has invested in more than 20 sewing machines, each worth 8 million VND or more, creating conditions for women who are in need of workers or live far from the factory to borrow them to work at home with salaries equivalent to those who work directly at the factory. Ms. Hang said: "I see that there are quite a lot of idle agricultural workers, middle-aged women have difficulty finding jobs. Therefore, in addition to the goal of economic development, I aim to help local workers, especially women and people in difficult circumstances, have stable jobs and increase their income."

In previous years, many people of working age, even those beyond working age, had to leave their hometowns to find work in other provinces; now the number of local workers "leaving their hometowns" to work far away has decreased significantly and is concentrating on working in industrial parks, clusters, and craft villages throughout the province. Thanks to the drastic participation, the province's investment environment has been constantly improved, Nam Dinh is gradually becoming an attractive destination for large domestic and international investors. As of December 2024, the whole province had 165 FDI projects in operation, with a total registered FDI capital of 4,227.7 million USD. The number of projects in industrial parks is 81 projects with a registered capital of 847.33 million USD, outside industrial parks are 84 projects with a registered capital of 3,430.4 million USD. A series of projects can be mentioned such as: Computer and computer peripheral equipment manufacturing factory of QMH Computer Co., Ltd.; factory producing medical gloves, labor protection gloves with a scale of 300 tons of products/year invested by Xingyu Group (Singapore) in Bao Minh Industrial Park expansion; Project on manufacturing plastic products and melamine products initiated by JiaWei Group in My Thuan Industrial Park; High-tech packaging paper factory from recycled waste paper and pulp invested by GDT Paper Joint Stock Company with a total capital of 2,560 billion VND (equivalent to over 100 million USD) in Bao Minh Industrial Park expansion; XIELONG Vietnam Garment Factory invested by XIELONG High-tech Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. with a total capital of 40 million USD in Rang Dong Textile Industrial Park; Signal transmission cable factory of MSL Vietnam Electronic Engineering Co., Ltd.; Workshop 2 of Golden Victory Vietnam Leather Shoe Factory; Solar power project (phase 1) of Sunrise Textile Dyeing Joint Stock Company; Factory of Nam Sung Aluminum Vietnam Co., Ltd.; garment factory of Nice Power Co., Ltd.; sports shoe sole and insole factory of Victory Vietnam Sports Equipment Co., Ltd.... In which, the computer and computer peripheral factory of QMH Computer Co., Ltd. (under Quanta Computer Inc. Group) was approved for investment and establishment in My Thuan Industrial Park in 2023. Receiving the support and assistance of all levels of government and functional departments of the province, QMH Computer Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the investment and construction stages of phase 1 in a very short period of time. Currently, the company has put the No. 1 factory with a production capacity of 1.3 million laptops and desktops into operation and is taking the next investment steps to increase production capacity to 2.6 million units by 2025, 3.6 million units by 2026, 4 million units by 2027, and 4.5 million units by 2028.

Along with that, the province focuses on vocational training, providing suitable jobs for training and ensuring jobs for workers after training. At the same time, directing communes and towns to survey people's vocational training needs; connecting with companies, enterprises, production and business establishments in the area on labor needs... encouraging communes to develop small-scale industries, traditional craft villages, establishing small-scale industrial cooperatives, cultivating new occupations to attract local workers. With a population of nearly 2 million people, an abundant young workforce of over 1 million people of working age (accounting for 60% of the population), of which a large proportion are skilled and highly qualified workers; at the same time, there is a large number of people working in neighboring provinces and cities, so when businesses invest in Nam Dinh, they will certainly be ready to return to their hometown to work for convenience in living and taking care of their families. Thereby contributing to increasing income, stabilizing the lives of workers and accelerating the socio-economic development of the locality.
