In addition to land use planning, the project focuses on the conservation and restoration of relics such as bomb and mine clearance, explosives clearance, chemical toxic treatment; research on natural conditions and construction materials; archaeological discovery and excavation; restoration, reinforcement and conservation of relics; collection and display of artifacts; improvement of technical infrastructure and landscape... with initial positive results.
The Management Board of My Son World Cultural Heritage said that for many reasons, including the Covid-19 pandemic and lack of investment resources, the volume and content of work according to the plan have only been partially implemented compared to the requirements.
Meanwhile, the process of implementing the planning contents encountered many arising problems, new discoveries supplementing the values of the relics, natural conditions, socio-economic factors and the need to develop tourism services have changed a lot...
The above difficulties cause many disadvantages in the management, protection, and mobilization of social resources to preserve and promote heritage values as well as invest in essential infrastructure, services, and attract tourism development.
According to the Management Board, the new planning is an extremely urgent task to create a legal basis for My Son to deploy investment and promote heritage values when the My Son Relic Site Conservation and Promotion Planning Project for the 2008-2020 period has expired for nearly 5 years.
