Attending the ceremony were Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan; Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture Ninh Thi Thu Huong; Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture Nguyen Quoc Huy; leaders of departments and branches, along with nearly 1,000 artisans, artists and actors from 24 troupes from provinces and cities.
Leaders of Quang Ngai province and the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) presented flowers to representatives of 24 delegations attending the contest.
At the opening ceremony, 24 delegations from provinces and cities participated in the procession of sacred symbols (totems) and art parades. Thereby, introducing the unique, distinctive and diverse cultural features of ethnic groups and localities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture Nguyen Quoc Huy said that with a history of thousands of years of building and defending the country, Vietnam has a treasure trove of tangible and intangible cultural heritage that is extremely rich and diverse, created and passed down by many generations to this day. Throughout the process of building and developing the country, our Party and State have always considered the protection and promotion of cultural heritage values as an important foundation for building an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity.
In recent years, the work of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values of the Vietnamese ethnic community has achieved many successes, contributing to the construction and development of Vietnamese culture. At the same time, it has contributed to the world's cultural heritage. The country currently has thousands of intangible cultural heritages being preserved, many of which have been recognized by UNESCO or listed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
In addition, more and more traditional festivals are maintained, associated with customs, performing arts, culinary culture and traditional costumes. Many customs of ethnic minorities are studied and restored to ensure the diversity and richness of cultural nuances of regions.
The contest is an activity to introduce and promote the values of intangible cultural heritage, customs, traditional festivals, folk songs, folk dances, costumes, and cuisine of ethnic groups across the country. Thereby, affirming the belief of ethnic people in the leadership of the Party and State; arousing the aspiration to develop the country, promoting the will and strength of great national unity.
“This is an opportunity for artisans and artists to gather, exchange experiences, collect and create in artistic work, contributing to preserving and honoring the traditional cultural values of ethnic communities. I believe that, with their passion for artistic creation and love for national cultural heritage, artisans, artists, actors and musicians will perform many unique performances rich in content and diverse in form. It is the crystallization of the most unique cultural features of regions across the country,” Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy emphasized.
A performance at the contest
After the art parade, representatives from three units, An Giang, Quang Ngai and Lai Chau, participated in a national costume performance and folk song and dance competition.
The 2024 Ethnic Cultural Folk Performance Competition takes place from August 1-4 with the participation of 24 ethnic artist groups from the following provinces and cities: An Giang; Bac Giang; Bac Ninh; Binh Phuoc; Dak Lak; Dien Bien; Dong Thap; Gia Lai; Hai Duong; Hoa Binh; Ho Chi Minh City; Khanh Hoa, Lai Chau; Lam Dong; Ninh Thuan; Phu Yen; Quang Binh; Quang Nam; Son La; Thai Nguyen; Thanh Hoa; Thua Thien Hue; Tuyen Quang; Quang Ngai.
During the 2 days from August 2-3, at the Provincial Labor Culture House, there will be a competition of performing traditional rituals and culinary competitions; folk songs, folk dances and ethnic costumes... promising to bring the audience performances of the traditional cultural beauty of ethnic groups./.
