Yesterday afternoon, December 28, at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2025) took place solemnly and jubilantly, witnessed live by 7,000 fans in the stands and tens of thousands of viewers watching via online channels.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association; and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Vice President of the Central Vietnam Youth Union, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Head of the tournament organizing committee; presented flowers and encouraged the players of the football teams.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet said: "Two years ago, in order to develop sports in universities, colleges and academies on a large and attractive scale, the Central Youth Union Secretariat and the Central Vietnam Student Association directed Thanh Nien Newspaper to coordinate with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to organize the first Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament. The tournament is held annually during the period of commemorating the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Students (January 19) until the founding day of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26). The Central Youth Union Secretariat and the Central Vietnam Student Association hope that the combination of Thanh Nien Newspaper and the VFF can create an attractive tournament, becoming an annual event awaited by students of universities and colleges across the country".
Delegates presented flowers and encouraged 28 football teams at the opening ceremony.
Commenting on the past two seasons, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized: "The expectations of the Central Youth Union Secretariat have come true when the tournament has truly become a festival for Vietnamese students with the main spirit of "Playing well - winning well - cheering well". Going international
The new feature of this year's season is that right after the final round ends in mid-March 2025, the 2025 International Youth Student Football Tournament - THACO Cup will take place, with the participation of 4 student teams from countries in the Southeast Asian region and 2 Vietnamese representatives. Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet commented: "In the 3rd consecutive season with new spirit and inspiration, in 2025, joining the common joy of the major holidays of the Party, the Youth Union, and important political and social events, for the first time Thanh Nien Newspaper will organize the International Youth Student Football Tournament, with professional support from VFF and main sponsorship from THACO Group.

This can be said to be a new point, a development point of our youth student sports tournament. For the first time, we have a regional playground for students. According to the organizers, the tournament will be a great opportunity for students from Southeast Asian countries to exchange and share experiences in developing school sports, as well as improve their football skills to be able to serve professional clubs or national teams. Moreover, the tournament will be a practical event that contributes to raising awareness among the young generation about a united Southeast Asia with "one vision - one identity - one community".
