Thousands of fans packed into the stands of Ton Duc Thang University were immersed in the exciting party of the closing ceremony and the final match of the THACO Cup 2025 between Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports. The closing ceremony was honored to welcome Mr. Mai Van Chinh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, along with many distinguished guests, sponsors, and accompanying units.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Head of the organizing committee of the THACO Cup 2025 Youth Union, emphasized: "When the final whistle blew, only one team made the dream of reaching the highest peak come true. However, glory is not only reserved for the champion. Glory belongs to all teams that strictly follow the tournament rules, put self-respect and honesty above all. Glory belongs to the players who have done their best on the field, with the desire to win and a strong will but still absolutely respect the other team, the audience, and the organizing committee. With pride in the flag and colors and civilized behavior, you have worked with the organizing committee to create a large-scale and attractive sports tournament for students nationwide".
The 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup ended successfully yesterday, March 16.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), said that the TNSV tournament changes every season, thereby making the student football tournament more and more attractive. "VFF is very happy to accompany Thanh Nien Newspaper to organize the meaningful TNSV tournament. This is a tournament that helps connect university students together, improve the physical fitness of students, and at the same time bring a healthy environment. After 3 years of organizing, we have gradually improved the competition format as well as the regulations so that students can both satisfy their passion for football and pursue their education. The tournament is organized on a large scale and systematically, creating a positive impact on the student football movement of universities across the country," Mr. Tuan shared.
At the 2025 TNSV THACO cup finals, 8 teams played 25 matches, giving fans many great plays and beautiful goals with a total of 48 goals scored.
Dramatic coronation
In the last match of the group stage, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism conceded 3 goals, then tried to equalize 3-3 against Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education. But when the rematch in the final, the situation changed. The Thanh team still chose the familiar approach to the match, proactively pushing up to play offensively right after the opening whistle, putting Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education in a defensive position. Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism pressed the field but could not take advantage of the first opportunities.

Joy after scoring
The match was only broken when the first half had passed by half time. The best player of Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ngan Nhu Dung, had a great play in the middle of the field, before sending a sharp pass down the line to Nguyen Duy Long. Duy Long overcame the opponent's defender, crossed conveniently into the penalty area for Pham Doan Nguyen to run up and cushion the ball to open the score, bringing Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Conceding the first goal, the team of Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports was caught in a chase and forced to rush forward to find an equalizer. However, the impatient representative of the Central region could not make it difficult for the well-organized defense system of the Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism. While the team of Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports was still confused in the ball deployment, the opponent had already scored a goal to double the gap. And once again, Ngan Nhu Dung left his mark, when his free kick opened up an opportunity for striker Le Van Thuc to finish.
The match reached its climax when defender Ha Lam Thanh (Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism) fouled a situation that could have led to a goal and received a direct red card in the 61st minute. Immediately from the free kick awarded from this foul, Nguyen Van Hai Quan scored a superb goal to reduce the score to 1-2 for the Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education. This goal also rekindled hope for the Central representative, when the gap was only 1 goal and the Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism team was only playing with 10 men on the field.

However, the team of Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education, despite having more than 20 minutes to play, could not take advantage. Coach Tran Trung Kien's team was no longer calm enough to create coordinated situations, as they had shown in the quarter-finals to overcome the team of Ton Duc Thang University. One or two good opportunities appeared, but the players of Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education either could not finish accurately, or could not defeat the excellent performance of Lao goalkeeper Thatsa Xaiyasone. In the end, the team of Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism won with a score of 2-1. When the referee blew the whistle to end the match, two contrasting emotions were expressed on the field. The rookie of Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Physical Education burst into tears when they were crowned, while many players of Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education collapsed on the field, crying.
Head coach Nguyen Cong Thanh could not hide his joy: "There are no words to describe the joy of me and the whole team at this moment. We have overcome each match, with determination and especially cutting our coat according to our cloth to achieve this achievement. Before the match, we assessed that the team of Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education was very strong, with an even force. Therefore, we researched and came up with reasonable tactics, tried to take advantage of the opportunity and did it to win the championship."
