More than half a century has passed since Uncle Ho passed away, but his words of encouragement, praise and advice during their meeting 57 years ago are still intact in the memory of Ms. Le Thi Hien in Hoa Binh residential group, Van Yen ward (Ha Tinh city).

Every May, the house in the small alley of Mrs. Le Thi Hien welcomes more visitors. Although she is 86 years old, she can no longer remember many milestones in her life, but the story of the only time she met Uncle Ho in her life is always a memory deeply engraved in her heart. Every time she tells it to young people, to her children and grandchildren today, that memory is still filled with the atmosphere of her youth and the pride of meeting Uncle Ho.

Every time she celebrates his birthday, Mrs. Hien tells her children and grandchildren the story of the time she met Uncle Ho.

“In June 1966, as Deputy Head of Ly Tu Trong Cooperative (Thach Yen Commune, Thach Ha District, now Van Yen Ward, Ha Tinh City) - the province's advanced cooperative at that time, I was able to join the Ha Tinh delegation to the North to study the production model in Thai Binh, then visit the capital Hanoi. I could not have imagined that during this working trip, we would have the great honor of meeting Uncle Ho, that was when I was 29 years old” - Ms. Hien began her story.

At that time, the Ha Tinh delegation had 41 people, but only 4 were women. After telling the secretary to spend 1 hour with the Ha Tinh delegation, Uncle Ho began to ask each person. When it was my turn, Uncle Ho asked: What do you do, where do you live? After listening to my answer, Uncle Ho said: Ha Tinh girls are very good, very intelligent, and brave. But you have to try to improve yourself, if you want men to respect you, you have to be able to do any task given to you. Then Uncle Ho told me: You are a female cadre in charge of the cooperative, you have to take care of women's liberation activities, build a nursery, create conditions for women to participate in production labor so that men can go to the battlefield...

During the 1 hour, in addition to asking about the situation in Ha Tinh as well as the members of the delegation, Uncle Ho also took time for us to talk with him. But when we met him, we were all so moved that we could not speak, the whole group only asked to take a souvenir photo with Uncle Ho.

57 years have passed, but the story of the only time she met Uncle Ho in her life is still a memory deeply engraved in Mrs. Hien's mind.

After returning from her business trip, Ms. Hien reported to the Party Committee and the people of the commune about Uncle Ho's instructions. Determined to carry out that teaching, the construction of a centralized nursery school received great attention and support from the local government and people. Thanks to that, Thach Yen became the first commune to gather groups of children in villages and hamlets into one place and build a spacious nursery school. This was also one of the nursery schools that achieved the title of advanced in the whole province at that time.

Mrs. Hien (second person on the left of Uncle Ho) and Ha Tinh delegation officials took a souvenir photo with Uncle Ho.

Keeping in mind his teachings, throughout the years of dedication to her homeland, although her work changed with many different positions: Deputy Director of the Cooperative, Director of the Ly Tu Trong Cooperative, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Commune, Chairman of the Women's Union of Thach Yen Commune, Ms. Hien still reminded herself: as a cadre, one must set an example, be dedicated to work, and serve the common interests.

Therefore, she always strives to learn to improve her qualifications; initiates local labor emulation movements such as: mobilizing women to participate in social work, developing youth movements to raise water fern, women to do irrigation, improve the banks of fields, participate in local reconciliation activities to contribute with women's associations at all levels to build happy families...

Along with remembering Uncle Ho's advice, Mrs. Hien also cherished and carefully kept the souvenir photo.

Passionate and enthusiastic about her work, it was not until she was 70 that she stopped all her social work roles, but she was always a companion and trusted advisor for all local movements. Because she always remembered: President Ho Chi Minh's life was also an example of working tirelessly throughout his life.

Since the age of 20, she has participated in local movement activities. Until now, Ms. Hien has always been a shining example, honored many times at typical advanced conferences of the district, province and the whole country, and was awarded the Uncle Ho Badge for women's liberation work.

The memory of meeting Uncle Ho and his kind words of advice are still deeply engraved in her mind. To this day, through her story, her portrait of him is more clearly portrayed - a perfect example of morality and style for the younger generation to constantly remind themselves to learn and contribute to building a more decent and beautiful homeland and country.
