Due to the large area, the African swine fever outbreak has not passed 21 days, Ha Tinh City has promptly directed localities to count the number of livestock herds subject to vaccination; establish vaccination teams by cluster, commune, and vaccinate in a rolling manner for each commune.
To date, the city has vaccinated 1,210/4,255 cattle against lumpy skin disease; 1,930/21,840 against swine fever; 1,930/21,840 against swine septicemia; and 1,922/5,706 against canine rabies.
Ha Tinh city focuses on vaccinating livestock in wards and communes.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu (Trung Van village, Thach Van commune, Ha Tinh city) said: "My family is raising 3 cows. The changing weather, erratic sunshine and rain, reduces the resistance of the animals, making them more susceptible to disease, so I have proactively reported the full number and regularly updated information on the commune's radio system to get vaccinated according to regulations."
According to Mr. Tran Viet Phuong - Director of the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock of Ha Tinh City, in order to ensure good implementation of vaccination work, Ha Tinh City has coordinated with the Department of Crop Production and Livestock of the province to provide technical training, guidance on preservation and transportation tools, vaccination techniques, and vaccination timing for each type of vaccine on livestock and poultry; assign staff to directly monitor the area to monitor progress and provide professional support when necessary. The locality focuses on human and material resources, striving to ensure that at least 80% of livestock are fully vaccinated with the right type of vaccine at the time of vaccination, to be completed before May 30 according to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee.
Ha Tinh City has coordinated with the provincial Department of Crop Production and Livestock to provide guidance on the timing of vaccination for each type of vaccine on livestock and poultry.
Currently, communes and towns in Duc Tho district are also focusing on completing the first vaccination plan for livestock in 2025. According to the review, the whole district has vaccinated more than 6,900 buffaloes and cows; more than 8,800 pigs; more than 9,300 dogs; more than 83,100 poultry;...
Mr. Phan Trung Kien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Dung Commune (Duc Tho) said: "As a locality with developed livestock farming activities, people are tending to restore and increase their herds after Tet. Currently, An Dung Commune has vaccinated more than 320 buffaloes and cows against septicemia and foot-and-mouth disease, vaccinated more than 550 dogs against rabies and will speed up the progress in the coming days. The authorities have stepped up propaganda about subjects required to be vaccinated, time and regulations on vaccination so that livestock farmers know and strictly comply. In addition, fully prepare means, tools, materials, and arrange more human resources to serve the vaccination work".
Currently, the remaining localities in the province are also actively propagating and mobilizing livestock farmers to proactively vaccinate livestock and poultry according to regulations to limit damage caused by epidemics. Localities with large livestock herds are: Vu Quang district, Huong Son district, Huong Khe district, etc.
Currently, it is the transitional season, the sudden change in weather reduces the resistance of livestock and poultry and creates favorable conditions for pathogens to develop and spread. Therefore, the industry recommends that full vaccination is the most important solution to increase the resistance of livestock.
Districts, towns and cities are speeding up the progress of mandatory rabies vaccination for animals.
According to information from the Ha Tinh Department of Crop Production and Livestock, the whole province has nearly 2.2 million poultry, more than 97,000 buffaloes and cows, more than 184,000 pigs, and over 88,700 dogs that need to be vaccinated in the first phase in 2025.
The first vaccination period in 2025 will last from now until May 30. Localities need to focus on mobilizing human and material resources to ensure the vaccination process achieves high results, providing good support for the process of disease prevention and control in livestock (ensuring that at least 80% of livestock are fully vaccinated with the right type of vaccine at the time of vaccination); regularly informing livestock farmers to raise awareness, comply with vaccination regulations, and protect livestock and poultry well.
In addition to speeding up vaccination, localities need to strengthen disease surveillance in livestock and poultry, especially in areas that have had epidemics or are at high risk, to promptly detect, warn and handle them as soon as there are signs of an epidemic.
Leaders of Duc Tho District People's Committee directly deployed the first vaccination campaign in 2025.
