According to the College Board, which owns the test, about 2 million students worldwide take the SAT each year. The number of candidates who score 1,400 or higher accounts for 7%. From the 1,530 mark, candidates are in the top 1% - the highest in the world.
Dieu Anh shared: “In the first exam in November 2024, I only got a modest score. Therefore, in this exam, I put in a lot of effort and dedication. My goal was about 1,500 points, so when I received the result of a perfect score of 1,600, I was very surprised and burst into joy.”

The SAT is 134 minutes long and consists of two sections: Reading and Writing and Math. Each section is divided into two modules of equal length. There are 98 questions in total, 54 of which are in the Reading and Writing section and 44 in Math.
Dieu Anh said that Math is not her strong point, so she was quite worried about this part of the test. The Math section of the SAT test is similar in difficulty to the 10th grade Math section in Vietnam, but it focuses more on Math thinking. In addition, the test often includes finding X, graphs, functions, etc. The tests in the form of equations also caused her a lot of difficulty.
“I was quite worried and a bit nervous when entering the exam room. However, when I encountered difficult questions or questions that I was still unsure about, I tried to stay calm and focus on remembering the types of questions I had learned so I could find the answer,” Dieu Anh shared.

Meanwhile, the Reading and Writing section requires candidates to have certain knowledge of language, history, culture, science, society, psychology, etc. As a candidate majoring in English, this section does not pose too much difficulty for Dieu Anh. Dieu Anh believes that there are many long passages in the test, making it difficult for candidates to remember and connect sentences. Therefore, she always tries to take notes on scratch paper and grasp the main ideas and keywords.
Every day, Dieu Anh spends 6-7 hours studying. The female student believes that doing many types of exercises and practicing problem-solving skills are the keys to achieving good results in an exam. In addition to studying knowledge at school, Dieu Anh also actively practices test sets from previous years and uses free SAT review materials on some websites.
“I might use my SAT scores to look for a scholarship to study abroad after graduating from high school. However, my wish after finishing school is to return to Vietnam to contribute and be close to my mother,” Dieu Anh confided.

In addition to achieving a perfect score on the SAT, the Ha Tinh female student also has an admirable academic record. Dieu Anh has been class monitor for 12 consecutive years, continuously winning First and Second prizes in the Provincial Excellent Student in English in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12; and has an IELTS score of 8.0.
In addition, Dieu Anh also holds the role of Vice President of BoNE Club - a charity organization and reading culture development organization at Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted. Possessing knowledge, foreign language ability, leadership skills and community spirit, but Dieu Anh shares... there is no secret other than "always trying, making more efforts".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong Huyen (homeroom teacher of English 12 class, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted) shared: "15/28 students in English 12 class achieved SAT scores above 1,500, among them Dieu Anh is the student with the highest score. Talking about Dieu Anh, I am extremely proud because she is an excellent student, well-behaved, and studious.
Dieu Anh also has a very high will when she tries her best to achieve every goal she sets. Besides, she is also an active and enthusiastic class monitor, always encouraging her classmates' learning spirit, helping the 12 English 1 class become a class with high academic achievements."
