The ministry said the 25 additional Lockheed Martin-made aircraft would bring the number of F-35s in Israel's air force to 75.

The deal will be funded through defense aid Israel receives from the United States.
Israel was the first country outside the US to purchase the F-35. In May 2018, the head of the country's air force said that Israel was the first country to use the aircraft in combat.
The F-35 is also known as the Joint Strike Fighter and in Israel goes by the Hebrew name “Adir” (Strength).
Lockheed Martin and engine maker Pratt & Whitney have agreed to let Israeli defense companies participate in the production of aircraft parts, the Israeli defense ministry added.
