(Dan Tri) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Vietnam and Indonesia increase investment in developing an electric vehicle ecosystem. The Indonesian President supports this proposal and hopes that the two sides will cooperate in development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Indonesian President Joko Widodo met on the afternoon of September 4, on the occasion of the head of the Vietnamese Government's visit to Jakarta to attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
The two leaders appreciated the positive developments in the Vietnam-Indonesia Strategic Partnership since their meeting in May in Labuan Bajo.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Indonesian President Joko Widodo agreed to actively promote the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and coordinate to well implement signed agreements and deals.

This includes bringing the signed documents on maritime cooperation into effect soon and implementing them in practice, creating momentum to bring the Strategic Partnership to a new level, towards a comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
Maintaining trade growth momentum in a more balanced direction, striving to bring bilateral trade turnover to 15 billion USD by 2028, is an important proposal made by the head of the Vietnamese Government during the meeting with Mr. Widodo.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two governments jointly encourage businesses to increase investment, especially in new areas such as digital economy, green economy, energy transition, and development of electric vehicle ecosystems.
In addition, the Prime Minister suggested that Indonesia limit the application of trade defense measures on Vietnamese exports, creating favorable conditions for agricultural products and Halal products originating from Vietnam to access the Indonesian market.
He also asked Indonesia to recognize Vietnam's efforts in managing fishing vessel activities and minimizing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities.
The proposal to promote cooperation in developing renewable energy and electric vehicle ecosystems by the head of the Vietnamese Government was supported by the Indonesian President. Mr. Widodo also suggested that the two countries strengthen maritime cooperation, sustainable fisheries cooperation and soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding on fisheries cooperation.

Discussing regional and international issues, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam supports and closely coordinates with Indonesia to ensure the success of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2023.
Vietnam will also contribute to maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and common development environment in the region, as committed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Indonesian President reaffirmed their support for maintaining solidarity and ASEAN's agreed principles on the East Sea issue.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong to President Joko Widodo to soon visit Vietnam and President Widodo happily accepted the invitation.
