Starting from 9:00 a.m. this morning, June 9, candidates who have registered to take the entrance exam for non-specialized public high schools and specialized high schools will be present at the examination sites to complete the examination procedures, correct any errors in their registration information (if any), and listen to the examination regulations and schedule.
At Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Long Bien District, Hanoi), candidates arrived quite early to check exam information.
With nearly 60% of the total number of students graduating from junior high school selected to enter grade 10 of public high schools, this is a highly competitive exam.
According to Thanh Nien 's records at some testing locations, candidates and parents arrived very early to complete the exam procedures, listening to the exam regulations with a variety of emotions, confident but inevitably nervous and anxious.
Vu Duc Hoang Long, a candidate at the Viet Duc High School exam site (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) said: "This morning, I was afraid of traffic jams so I arrived at the exam site early to avoid missing important information. Although I was quite confident that I had prepared myself in terms of knowledge and mentality, I still felt quite nervous before a big exam."
Meanwhile, many parents are worried to the point of "losing sleep and appetite". Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang, a parent whose child is taking the 10th grade entrance exam at Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Long Bien District, Hanoi), said she took time off work to take her child to the exam. "If the children worry one thing, the parents worry ten times more. The closer the exam date gets, the more worried I am. Although my house is not far from the exam site, I arrange my work to take my child to and from the exam site; also to encourage my child to be comfortable during the exam period," Ms. Hang confided.
Sharing the same sentiment, another parent, Mr. Tran Van Danh, also asked for time off from work to take his child to the exam site. "A week before the exam, my daughter told me to arrange my work to take her to the exam. Although I was a bit worried, I still had to stay strong to encourage her," Mr. Danh said.
Parents at the exam site of Viet Duc High School (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) anxiously waited for their children, even though it was only the exam registration procedure session.
Mobilize a large number of invigilators and supervisors
Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, informed: Hanoi is the locality with the largest number of candidates registering for the 10th grade entrance exam in the country with more than 116,000 students registering. Hanoi has established 201 exam sites with nearly 5,000 exam rooms in 30 districts, towns and cities to serve exam candidates.
The city has about 20,000 officials and teachers working in invigilation and grading. In addition, there are 590 supervisors at the examination sites and more than 1,000 police officers and soldiers performing the task of protecting the examination area. In hot weather conditions, all examination sites have maximized health care conditions for candidates. The electricity sector is committed to ensuring no power outages at examination sites, all 201 examination sites have backup generators.
To ensure objectivity, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires examination sites to assign invigilators according to the principle that each examination room will have 2 invigilators from 2 different schools; an invigilator will not invigilate more than once in an examination room.
During the performance of their duties, members of the examination site must comply with the assignment, comply with the direction of the examination site manager, and properly implement the examination regulations and examination invigilation instructions. The examination site manager is responsible for assigning examination invigilators and members to perform duties at the examination site to ensure that the people are clearly identified, the work is confidential, and the procedures are correct and complete.
Leaders of the Department of Education and Training inspect the facilities of the examination sites.
In addition, at the examination sites, there are also staff to supervise the examination work. The whole city has 590 supervisors. Supervision work at each examination site is carried out according to the principle: for less than 20 examination rooms, there are 2 supervisors; from 20 to less than 30 examination rooms, there are 3 supervisors; from 31 to less than 40 examination rooms, there are 4 supervisors. For examination sites with scattered examination rooms, additional supervisors will be assigned.
The exam will take place on June 10-11. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will only consider candidates who meet three requirements: complete the required number of exams (literature, math, foreign language), do not violate exam regulations to the point of having their exam results canceled, and do not have any exams with a score of 0. Therefore, candidates need to do their exams honestly and absolutely do not violate exam regulations.
