Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the first school to launch the 2025 thinking assessment exam. According to the newly announced enrollment plan, this year, the school will maintain 3 stable enrollment methods: Talent assessment method accounts for 20% of the enrollment target; Admission method based on Thinking Assessment exam scores accounts for 40% of the enrollment target; Admission method based on 2025 high school graduation exam scores accounts for 40% of the enrollment target.
Thus, compared to last year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology reduced 10% of the admission quota based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, while the capacity assessment method increased the admission quota by 10%.
Not only Hanoi University of Science and Technology, many universities also announced plans to increase admission quotas based on the results of separate exams organized by some universities.
This is also the trend of many universities to reduce the quota for considering transcripts and high school graduation exam scores, and increase the rate for separate admission methods and separate exams.
Nguyen Huu Tri, a 12th grade student at Pham Hong Thai High School (Hanoi), said that in order to prepare for some separate exams, Tri carefully studied the new points of these exams to have the best preparation direction. To confidently take on the thinking assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Tri said: "I spent a lot of time reviewing and practicing according to the sample exam structure announced by the school in advance."
Constantly researching and updating trends, Trinh Minh Chau, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Hue High School (Hanoi), has been studying for the Hanoi National University's aptitude test since grade 10.
Chau said: “I chose to practice for the ability assessment test by self-studying and studying at a center with the hope of increasing my chances of getting into my favorite school. Currently, there are many different admission methods, which is both an opportunity and a challenge for us.”
The first batch of students studying the 2018 General Education Program will take the high school graduation exam in 2025 with many major changes. Therefore, this year's separate exams will also have many changes to match the new program.
At Hanoi National University, there will be many changes in the questions, question posing, and question content of the 2025 competency assessment exam. Each exam topic will have cluster questions in all sections.
In a data context, the test will ask 1-3 different questions to assess the candidate's overall ability. The cluster question can be a new topic with given material, requiring the candidate to identify, analyze and propose a solution to the given problem.
Regarding the thinking assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien - Deputy Director of the school said that the work of creating the thinking assessment exam this year is more complicated and difficult than last year because it is necessary to compare all questions to match the content of the 2018 General Education Program.
Up to now, more than 50 higher education institutions have used the results of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Thinking Assessment exam for admission.
However, according to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, depending on the admission regulations, each school has a different conversion of exam scores to different scoring scales. Therefore, Mr. Dien noted that candidates should carefully research the information during the application process.
