Workshop introducing digital transformation program for rural industrial establishments

On the morning of October 25, the local Department of Industry and Trade held a workshop to introduce the digital transformation program for rural industrial establishments.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Duong Quoc Trinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Local Industry and Trade - Ministry of Industry and Trade said that under the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation is an inevitable trend, a matter of survival for countries, organizations, businesses and consumers around the world. The huge changes in labor productivity, demand, psychology, user habits and new production and business models being formed show the great role and impact of digital transformation on social life and all industries today.

Vietnam is gradually building and applying a system of policies suitable for the digital transformation trend in enterprises, orienting the development of the digital economy and society. From there, building digital transformation strategies in each industry, each field, each enterprise... contributes to promoting industrialization and restructuring the economy, in which the State - enterprises - universities, research institutes play a core role.

To adapt to the new situation and take advantage of the opportunities brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, on September 27, 2019, the Central Executive Committee issued Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW on a number of policies and strategies to proactively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, emphasizing the urgent need to accelerate the digital transformation process. Accordingly, digital transformation for businesses plays an extremely important role, Vietnamese businesses need to create their own development momentum, with the core being the digitalization of businesses in all aspects.

With the continuous development of information technology, digital transformation has become an important foundation to help businesses, organizations and state management agencies enhance competitiveness, improve service quality and management efficiency. And digital transformation here is not only a trend that needs to be followed but also one of the mandatory steps that cannot be ignored.

Digital transformation in enterprises is the process of changing the way of working and producing through the integration of digital technologies into the operations of each unit and enterprise to change the way of operation, business model and bring higher efficiency, new values. Digital transformation is also a change in the culture of the unit and enterprise, requiring continuous updating of new and modern things.

“ Businesses that are indifferent and stand outside the digital transformation race will face difficulties and challenges in the future, and may even lead to failure. However, many businesses are not clear about where to start implementing digital transformation and what benefits digital transformation will bring to businesses, ” Mr. Duong Quoc Trinh emphasized.

As a unit that has been actively accompanying rural industrial enterprises in digital transformation in recent years, Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang - Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consulting 1, the local Department of Industry and Trade agrees that enterprises applying digitalization in management, production, business activities... will bring practical effects such as: Saving operating costs; Better information management and resource exploitation; Improving customer experience; Optimizing operational activities in management; Bringing business flexibility; Increasing transparency and efficiency in the management system; Improving productivity of employees and the entire enterprise; Increasing opportunities, enhancing competitiveness; Increasing profits; Contributing to building a better corporate culture.

After the post-Covid era, user behavior has changed, shopping is based more on the "digital environment". And digital transformation here is not just a trend that needs to be followed but also one of the mandatory steps that cannot be ignored.

Thanks to the development of technology, especially through digital transformation, many new business models have emerged. Business models on digital platforms help businesses expand their ability to reach customers and increase business efficiency.

Despite recognizing the importance of digital transformation, many rural industrial enterprises report difficulties in this process, especially in terms of human resources and capital. Even as shared by Mr. Nguyen Truong Nghia - General Director of Viet Xanh Joint Stock Company, enterprises do not know where to start, how to do it, and how much it will cost.

Mr. Nghia also said that the company has been operating in the agricultural processing industry for 10 years, with output mainly exported. Currently, the foreign market is facing difficulties, the company wants to return to exploit the domestic market and hopes to build a virtual booth to introduce products.

Discussing at the workshop, experts noted that in order to transform digitally, businesses must first understand what digital transformation is and at what scale they should transform. Therefore, businesses need to be trained to have a systematic start and avoid risks.

At the same time, businesses need to have a clear digital transformation strategy, including how to position products, how to control product quality, and the need for customer care services.
