The 9th Hanoi Book Fair in 2024 with the theme "Hanoi: Capital of culture and heroes - City for peace" is organized by the Hanoi People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications with the participation of more than 30 publishers and book distribution enterprises nationwide, bringing a reading culture space and many attractive book exchange and experience programs.
This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024); 25 years since Hanoi was honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a "City for Peace".

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai affirmed that the Book Fair is not only a cultural event, but also a bridge of knowledge, a place where each book carries stories, ideas and knowledge that are widely shared.
With the theme "Hanoi: Heroic Cultural Capital - City for Peace", this year's Book Fair continues to affirm the important role of books in modern social life, especially in the context of strong development and international integration of the Capital.
"With the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people and Hanoians, the city hopes and believes that the 9th Hanoi Book Fair - 2024 will bring joy to the community, especially book lovers; create the best conditions to help readers access rich knowledge resources, serving their lives, work, study, research, and improving their knowledge and skills", the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized.
In 2024, the Book Fair continues to receive the support and participation of a number of diplomatic agencies such as the Embassies of Laos, Cambodia, France, Italy... bringing many attractive and colorful cultural exchange activities.

Through that, the Book Fair also contributes to introducing the intellectual and cultural values of Hanoi and Vietnam, contributing to socio-economic development through activities to develop reading culture.
During the 3 days (from September 27 to 29), the Book Fair will have many attractive and meaningful activities, notably the book display and exhibition with the theme "Hanoi: Capital of culture and heroes - City for peace" serving readers for free with books on economics, politics, culture, military, diplomacy of Hanoi Publishing House and works written about Hanoi by Publishing Houses, Book Companies associated with publishing participating in the Hanoi Book Fair; affirming the importance of books in social life, demonstrating the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people, promoting the cultural values of Thang Long - Hanoi, contributing to improving people's knowledge, and sustainably developing the country's human resources.
Within the framework of the Hanoi Book Fair 2024, many special incentive programs, attractive and meaningful exchange and discussion programs will also take place, introducing new works to readers and carrying messages of pride about the cultural and historical traditions of Thang Long - Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.

Promoting the tradition of "mutual love and support", the Organizing Committee of the 9th Hanoi Book Fair - 2024 launched a campaign for local publishers, book companies, publishing units participating in the Book Fair and readers to donate books to school libraries in suburban districts of Hanoi heavily affected by storms and floods.
After 9 times of organization, Hanoi Book Fair has become a festival of exchange between publishing units nationwide, a cultural meeting place for book lovers, contributing to spreading and improving reading culture to a large number of domestic readers as well as international tourists.
