National conference to study and implement Conclusion 57-KL/TW of the Politburo

On October 11, the Central Steering Committee for External Information Work (CIS) held a national conference to study and implement Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of CIS work in the new situation.

The conference was connected online to 4 central locations; 63 provincial and municipal locations and Vietnamese embassies abroad. Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the Central Steering Committee for Information and Communications chaired the conference. Attending the conference at the provincial location were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Tran Minh Nam, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Lam Dong, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department; Luu Xuan Phuong, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Huynh Tan Hanh, Director of the Provincial Police Department.

At the conference, the Central Steering Committee for Information and Communications reported on the 10-year implementation of Conclusion No. 16-KL/TW, dated February 14, 2012 of the Politburo on the strategy for developing information and communications for the 2010-2020 period. The leaders of the Central Propaganda Department thoroughly grasped the core contents and guided the implementation of Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW, dated June 15, 2023 of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of information and communications work in the new situation. The leaders of the Central External Relations Department thoroughly grasped the topic of improving the effectiveness of the Party's information and people's diplomacy in the new situation. The leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thoroughly grasped the topic of the world and regional situation and the issues arising for information and communications work in the new situation. The leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications thoroughly grasped the topic of the draft Outline of the Government's Action Program to implement Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW, dated June 15, 2023 of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of information technology work in the new situation. The leaders of the Ministry of National Defense thoroughly grasped the topic of information technology work in the field of security and defense, contributing to protecting the Fatherland early and from afar. The leaders of the Ministry of Public Security thoroughly grasped the topic of information technology work, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the fight against and refuting wrong and distorted viewpoints, bad and toxic information, especially in cyberspace. The leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism thoroughly grasped the topic of information technology work, contributing to building a cultural industry, spreading Vietnamese values, identity and culture to the international community. The Vietnamese Embassy in the United States presented solutions to further improve the quality of information technology work of representative agencies, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the conference aimed to raise awareness and create unity in action among cadres, party members, and people at home and abroad on information and communication work and tasks and solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of information and communication work in the new situation. Accordingly, he requested the Central Steering Committee for Information and Communication Work and ministries, branches, and localities to organize research, study, disseminate, and implement Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW seriously and effectively; focus on exchanging, discussing, and clarifying new contents of the Conclusion. Closely link, synchronously deploy, with focus and key points between information and domestic information, between Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and people's foreign affairs; Information and communication work needs to be proactive, highly predictive; harmoniously combine "building" and "fighting". Continuously innovate content, diversify methods of information technology according to the motto of "proactive, synchronous, timely, creative, effective", suitable to the needs of subjects, regions, and areas at home and abroad. Diversify and integrate information technology into propaganda activities, press, publishing, tourism, international activities organized in Vietnam, activities of Vietnam in other countries, activities of Vietnamese people abroad. Enhance the effectiveness of the fight, refute false, distorted, hostile arguments against the Party, State and regime, contributing to firmly protecting the ideological foundation of the Party and the great national unity bloc. Strengthen state resources, encourage and mobilize social resources for information technology work. Promote information, promote the image of the country, people, culture, achievements of the renovation process; noble ideological values of the nation; Ensure the Party's viewpoints, guidelines and policies in international and regional issues; constantly affirm Vietnam's position in the international arena.

* On the same day, the Provincial Party Committee of Agencies and Enterprises organized an online connection for the National Conference to study and implement Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of information and communication work in the new situation. Attending were comrades: Members of the Executive Committee, the Party Committee's Inspection Committee and secretaries and deputy secretaries of the branches and affiliated party committees.
