President of Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga launched Ao Dai Week 2024
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Ha Thi Nga, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, said that in 2019, the Vietnam Women's Union initiated and coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize events with the theme "Ao Dai - Vietnamese cultural heritage". Since then, even during the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ao Dai Week has been held annually in the first week of March - the month of International Women's Day (March 8).
This year, commemorating the 114th anniversary of International Women's Day and the 1984th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Uprising, the Vietnam Women's Union organized the launching ceremony of Ao Dai Week 2024 and the art program "Fragrance and color of Vietnamese Ao Dai" to contribute to honoring the value of Ao Dai; arousing love, pride, responsibility to preserve and promote the value of Ao Dai heritage in the community; at the same time, it is also an opportunity to introduce the culture, country, Vietnamese people in general and Vietnamese women in particular to many domestic and international friends.

"Through these practical activities, the Vietnam Women's Union wishes to contribute to inspiring and spreading meaningful, positive messages about love, national pride, the country, people and Vietnamese ao dai to the general public. At the same time, contributing to the values of ao dai being soon recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage and further as a world cultural heritage," the President of the Vietnam Women's Union expressed.
On the occasion of the upcoming International Women's Day, Ms. Ha Thi Nga sends the best wishes to all women, mothers, and sisters across the country and Vietnamese women living abroad, and the deepest thanks to men - the grandfathers, husbands, brothers, male friends and colleagues who have always supported and created conditions for women to have the best living and working environment.
Continuing the journey of bringing the values of Ao Dai to become Vietnamese cultural heritage, after the launching ceremony, the art program " Fragrance and color of Vietnamese Ao Dai" took place. The program consisted of music and dance performances honoring the image of Vietnamese women and Ao Dai performances depicting the beauty and love of Ao Dai.

During this show, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam and more than 50 domestic designers introduced the best ao dai collections according to 3 prominent themes: pride in Vietnamese ao dai; soul of Vietnamese ao dai and quintessence of Vietnamese ao dai.
The program also featured the wives of ambassadors of various countries in traditional Vietnamese ao dai.
