The 2024 Northwest - Dien Bien Industry and Trade Fair is part of a series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the 115th anniversary of the province's founding (June 28, 1909 - June 28, 2024) and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Provincial Party Committee (October 10, 1949 - October 10, 2024). With the theme "The Northwest and the whole country integrate and develop", the fair takes place for 7 days (April 19 - 25), opening at 8:00 p.m. on April 19 and closing on April 25, 2024, at 7/5 Square.
Participating in the fair are enterprises of all economic sectors, cooperatives, Vietnamese trade promotion organizations established under the provisions of current law; Department of Industry and Trade of provinces; enterprises of Northern Laos provinces; professional associations; departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities of Dien Bien province. The scale of the fair is about 300 booths of over 145 domestic and foreign units and enterprises participating, divided into 4 main areas: Exhibition area, introducing goods and products of departments, branches, districts, towns, cities, the Industry and Trade sector, enterprises by the Department of Economics - Ministry of National Defense (115 booths); booth area of domestic enterprises (158 booths); booth area organized by foreign enterprises (12 booths) and culinary area (15 booths). Items displayed, introduced and sold at the fair include: Mechanical engineering products, machinery, production equipment; Office equipment, electronics; consumer goods, household appliances; handicrafts, craft village products; OCOP products, typical rural industries; fashion, cuisine...
The Organizing Committee members discussed and evaluated focusing on a number of contents such as: Funding to support units participating in the fair; preparation work of departments, branches, districts, towns and cities; work to ensure security and order, fire prevention and fighting; ensuring security and safety for delegates; urban beautification; arranging accommodation for delegations and tourists participating in the fair; handling procedures for foreign units and enterprises through Tay Trang International Border Gate; tightening market management; ensuring electricity supply for the fair, etc.
Concluding the meeting, comrade Pham Duc Toan emphasized that the Fair has important economic and political significance in order to strengthen cooperation, investment in economic development, trade and tourism, create regional connectivity between the provinces of the Northern Midlands and Mountains, including Dien Bien province, and promote cooperative relations with provinces across the country. Through the fair, organizations, enterprises, traders, and business households can access the market, display, promote, introduce and sell high-quality products, goods and services; find partners, expand the market, connect trade with domestic provinces and export abroad. To successfully organize the fair, it is recommended that the fair organizer coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to ensure the quality and scale of goods, security, electricity, fire prevention and fighting, etc. The Organizing Committee must create maximum conditions for businesses and units to register to participate in the fair, especially local businesses and cooperatives. The Department of Finance and the Department of Industry and Trade update the parking fee to notify the units for implementation. Regarding the participants of the fair, each district, town and city in the province is required to have a booth to participate in the fair. The Provincial People's Committee Office proactively collects the list of participants welcomed by the Provincial People's Committee to prepare adequate and thoughtful accommodation. The Department of Information and Communications, news agencies, newspapers and the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism are requested to strengthen propaganda work.
