Delivering the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Party Committee Secretary and Director of the Agricultural Academy, said: As a leading training and research institution in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in Vietnam, the Academy is constantly self-reliant and creative to always be at the forefront of training, research and serving society.

After 68 years of construction and development, the Academy has had strong development in training, the number of annual enrollments has met and exceeded the set targets, the scale of training at all levels has been increasingly developed. The Academy has established many new departments, opened many new majors to meet social needs. Scientific and technological activities have achieved many outstanding achievements, many research groups have been established, many potential scientific and technological products have been commercialized; many new breeds of livestock and plants have been put into production practice.

Research on vaccines to prevent livestock diseases has achieved many successes. International cooperation activities have also developed remarkably, with cooperative relations with about 120 universities and research institutes in 25 countries around the world. Connection and cooperation activities with businesses and localities have taken place strongly...

This school year, the Academy welcomes more than 6,000 students. Accompanying the students are nearly 1,300 staff members, including nearly 700 lecturers, scientists, PhDs, senior lecturers, associate professors, professors... Teachers and students of the Academy are determined to maximize the exploitation of intellectual resources and material resources to continue promoting fundamental and comprehensive innovation in training, research, and transfer of scientific and technological advances into life to meet the development goals of the country in the new period. The Academy continues to develop in the direction of autonomy, multi-disciplinary, multi-field, multi-branch, research-oriented, as a training center, providing high-quality human resources for the country's construction, development and increasingly deep international integration.

The SAHEP-VNUA project funded by the World Bank implemented at the Academy has contributed to improving the research and training capacity of the Academy through the strong development of technical facilities to meet the working, teaching and learning needs of staff, civil servants and students, including: offices of the faculties: biotechnology, food technology, veterinary medicine...; the Central Lecture Hall, the Center for Research Excellence and Innovation; internal traffic routes; the Central Building with the Central Hall with a capacity of 1,200 seats, the VNUA International Conference Center with a capacity of 800 seats; the central roundabout with the new logo of the Academy; the Academy gate with a relief depicting the history of agricultural development and the Academy...

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that, implementing the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho "If our farmers are rich, our country will be rich; If our agriculture is prosperous, our country will be prosperous!", throughout the revolutionary struggle as well as in the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland, our Party and State have always paid special attention to and attached importance to agricultural development.

Over 40 years of renovation, Vietnam's agriculture has developed strongly in both scale and production level, affirming its important position as a pillar of the economy, not only ensuring national food security, but also exporting many of the world's leading agricultural products, many agricultural products have contributed to making Vietnam famous in the international arena. Vietnam Academy of Agriculture is one of the country's key universities. The staff trained by the Academy is a very important human resource, contributing to the outstanding achievements of the country's agriculture, especially in the renovation period.

The General Secretary and President congratulated and commended the Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture for its important achievements, always being a leader and pioneer in many fields. Typically, the Academy is one of the first 6 universities trusted by the Government to pilot autonomy and is considered one of the universities that most vividly and successfully implement the autonomy mechanism of public service units. The Academy is also a typical example of international integration, accepting and reaching international standards in training, scientific research and school administration. Every teacher and student has the right to be proud of the great achievements and growth and development of the Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture today.

Emphasizing the need to deeply perceive the new historical starting point vision, clearly define one's role and responsibility to constantly innovate and strive to rise up, the General Secretary and President requested that the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture continue to strive to not only be the country's leading training and research center but also a prestigious university in the region and the world, a center of innovation, a trusted address for national startups.

General Secretary and President To Lam and delegates performed the inauguration ceremony of the "Project to enhance training and science and technology capacity" using ODA capital from the World Bank.

The Academy needs to develop a comprehensive development plan with a suitable roadmap to become a university modeled after advanced research universities in the world. Ministries, first of all the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Ministry of Finance, are responsible for guiding and supporting the Academy in developing and organizing the effective implementation of this plan.

The Academy must actively improve the quality of training, training programs to ensure compatibility, integration, and internationalization according to advanced standards as soon as possible; innovate training content and methods to suit the era of the 4th industrial revolution and the national digital transformation. Continue to implement university autonomy more substantially and at a new level, according to the criteria and practices of higher education in developed countries; ensure more comprehensive integration in higher education, but still imbued with Vietnamese culture, Vietnamese soul, originating from the reality of the country and people of Vietnam.

The General Secretary and President noted that the research work of the Academy must aim to contribute to the construction of "ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers"; develop a smart agriculture that adapts to climate change, green growth, high added value, on par with advanced countries in the world. There must be closer links between the University and the locality, especially the locality.

The Hanoi City Government, Gia Lam District, and Trau Quy Town need to cooperate closely with the Academy and pay more attention to infrastructure connection, environmental sanitation, ensuring security, social order and safety; actively coordinate, support, and guide the Academy in managing, exploiting, and using land effectively, avoiding wasting resources.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam and delegates visited the Science, Technology and Innovation Exhibition and planted souvenir trees on the campus of the Academy.
