Also attending the meeting were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, and leaders of ministries, branches, and central agencies.
At the meeting, the Government Standing Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries and branches for promptly implementing assigned tasks on unilateral visa exemption policy and preferential visa policy to attract a number of subjects in the recent past, helping the visa policy become more open and favorable.
However, Vietnam's visa policy still needs to continue to be improved, meeting the goal of contributing to socio-economic development, promoting the tourism industry, attracting foreign investors and experts in various fields to Vietnam, demonstrating the image of a safe and hospitable Vietnam, helping to further enhance the position and prestige of our country.

The Government Standing Committee also believes that it is necessary to consider creating favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese who wish to regain Vietnamese nationality. This affirms the Party and State's respect and concern for overseas Vietnamese, meets their aspirations, and contributes to continuing to strongly promote important resources from overseas Vietnamese for the cause of national construction and defense, especially in the era of national development.
In his concluding remarks, along with giving his opinions on a number of specific contents and principles, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need to research and expand visa exemption and preferential visa policies and study and amend regulations on nationality to suit the current situation, meet practical requirements, institutionalize and concretize the Party's guidelines and policies into State policies and laws (including Resolution No. 36, Directive No. 45 and Conclusion No. 12 of the Politburo on work with overseas Vietnamese; Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation).
The Prime Minister assigned relevant agencies to receive comments, research, propose, develop, amend, supplement and perfect regulations and policies to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision.
