At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and appreciation for the progress in the bilateral relationship in all areas, with many positive results, notably maintaining the stable development momentum of economic - trade - investment relations, especially in the context that the two countries are carrying out many practical activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 2 years of comprehensive strategic partnership. On this occasion, the General Secretary asked Ambassador Marc Knapper to help convey his warm regards and best wishes to US President Donald Trump and congratulate the achievements the United States has made under the leadership of President Donald Trump in recent times.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam consistently considers the United States a leading strategic partner and wishes to cooperate closely with the United States to develop the bilateral relationship in a more substantial and in-depth manner, effectively implementing the contents of the Joint Statement and the Action Plan to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the common interests of the two countries and for peace, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.

The General Secretary acknowledged the efforts of Ambassador Knapper and the staff of the US Embassy in promoting and effectively implementing high-level agreements and cooperation contents within the framework of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on promoting high-level contacts, building and consolidating political trust, and expanding cooperation in all areas such as business, culture, education, with visits and active participation of business delegations, university delegations, etc.

In the field of economics, trade and investment, the General Secretary said that relevant ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam are actively addressing the current concerns of the United States, in the spirit of encouraging increased imports of US products that Vietnam needs, especially agricultural products, liquefied gas and high-tech products. The Party and State of Vietnam always pay attention to creating a favorable investment environment, supporting foreign enterprises in general and the United States in particular to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam, maintaining the momentum of balanced and harmonious economic relations, sustainable growth, and bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
