At the meeting, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai expressed his joy and appreciation for the delegation's working trip to Vietnam; introduced the functions, tasks and authority of the Economic and Financial Committee; emphasized that the Committee attaches great importance to international cooperation, in which, highly appreciates the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea in all aspects.

In the spirit of open exchange, Chairman of the Committee Phan Van Mai hopes to open up cooperation opportunities between the Economic and Financial Committee and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea.

Emphasizing that the Economic and Financial Committee has the function of working with the Ministry of Construction to submit to the National Assembly for consideration and approval of draft laws and resolutions to create a legal framework and policy mechanisms to contribute to unlocking resources, developing transportation, smart cities, housing, land, etc., which are areas that play an important role in the country's development, Chairman of the Committee Phan Van Mai also expressed his confidence and support for promoting cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea Park Sang Woo thanked the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee for taking the time to receive the delegation; he said that in recent times, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea has become increasingly closer, more closely connected and strengthened in all fields. In particular, cooperation in the economic field has developed very well, Vietnam is the third largest trading partner of the Republic of Korea, in recent years, the Republic of Korea has continuously maintained its position as the largest investor in Vietnam.

Minister Park Sang Woo also stated that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is the largest ministry in the Korean Government, in charge of many areas such as: railways, roads, airlines, housing, real estate market development, and urban development.

Noting that Vietnam is currently focusing on developing transport infrastructure in terms of roads, railways, waterways and airways, Chairman of the Committee Phan Van Mai hopes that Korea will share its experience in further promoting development in transport, housing, smart cities, effective management and use of land resources, and the TOD model.

Regarding the development of transport infrastructure, Minister Park Sang Woo stated that Vietnam and Korea are coordinating to organize a forum on cooperation in the railway sector between the two countries.

Introducing the Korean railway system, the Minister said that Korea has had a high-speed railway system since 2004 and has since become self-sufficient in high-speed railway technology, becoming the fourth country in the world to be able to be self-sufficient in this technology.

It is known that the Vietnamese National Assembly approved the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project in November 2024 and this project is being implemented. Minister Park Sang Woo affirmed that Korea is ready to accompany and share with Vietnam the experiences it has implemented in the past. Believing that the biggest problem is to consider the method of implementing the project and how to be able to be self-sufficient in technology in the coming time, Minister Park Sang Woo believes that through this project, the Vietnamese railway industry can develop strongly in the coming time.

Acknowledging and appreciating the sharing of Minister Park Sang Woo, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai said that the Committee will accompany the Ministry of Construction to perfect the legal framework and have mechanisms and policies to promote more effectively the cooperative relationship between the two sides.
