Previously, it was planned that on the morning of April 1, elementary, middle and high school students of the American International School would return to school after spring break (from March 23 to March 31), but last night (March 31), the school announced that "students cannot return to school yet". Specifically, on the evening of March 31, the American International School sent an email to parents of the entire school informing them that students could not return to school today (April 1). Previously, since March 18, students of this school have been absent from school or have come to school but have not been able to study as planned because most of the school's teachers did not come to class to teach due to unpaid wages.
In an email sent to parents, the school said it has not yet completed the establishment of a 3-party account (including the school, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, and parents) for contributions to maintain the school's operations for the next period. These contributions range from VND9.5 million (primary level) to VND25.5 million (grades 9-12) per month to maintain the school's teaching and learning activities. These contributions are in addition to the annual tuition fee and will be supervised by representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
Meanwhile, at noon on April 1, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed about the contributions to support the operation of the American International School and sent the receiving account number to parents.
The Department also informed the co-owners of the account and the process of reviewing this account, including: Mr. Tran Khac Huy - Head of the Financial Planning Department of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City (the first account owner approved the review of the final expenditure contents); Mr. Ho Quang Trung (the second account owner approved the review of the first expenditure contents); the representative of the parents' representative board is Ms. Tran Phuong Anh (supervising the first expenditure contents when the accountant of the American International School presented).
Regarding the expenditure control process, all contributions from parents will be compiled, managed and made public transparently by the interdisciplinary working group. The amount of contributions will be approved for proper spending by the professional department of the interdisciplinary working group, under the supervision of representatives of the American International School's parents' association.
Previously, in a meeting between the school, parents and authorities, all parties agreed (some parents did not agree) that parents would contribute an additional amount of money to maintain the school's teaching and learning activities to create conditions for students to return to school. This amount is expected to be 125 billion VND, which will be monitored by all parties as mentioned above to ensure that the school will use it for the right purpose.
Students at the American International School continue to be out of school.
