From early morning, every street in Ho Chi Minh City was bustling with images of students in uniforms of all levels quickly gathering at school to attend the opening ceremony.
According to the reporter of Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper, welcoming students at the beginning of the school year and organizing the opening ceremony of the new school year at schools in Ho Chi Minh City are organized in a concise manner, suitable to the conditions of the locality and school, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere of the national festival of bringing children to school.
At Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (235 Nguyen Van Cu, Ward 4, District 5) on the morning of September 5, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen attended the opening ceremony and awarded prizes to outstanding students in the 2024 high school graduation exam and university entrance exam at this school.
At the same time, at Binh Tri Dong B Secondary School (Binh Tri Dong B Ward, Binh Tan District), hundreds of students welcomed the new school year in a spacious new school. The opening ceremony was also the inauguration ceremony of the school.
Attending the ceremony, sharing joy with teachers and students was Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut - Chairman of Binh Tan District People's Committee said that Binh Tri Dong B Secondary School is one of 7 new schools put into use by Binh Tan District in the 2024-2025 school year, including 5 primary schools, 1 secondary school and 1 kindergarten.
Binh Tri Dong B Secondary School alone was built on an area of 13,556m2, including 36 classrooms, welcoming 1,620 students this school year. This is also the first secondary school in Binh Tri Dong B ward.
According to information from the Binh Tan District Education Department, the total number of students in the district is expected to be 124,237 this school year, an increase of 3,455 students. Thanks to the use of new schools, the primary level in the district will reduce the number of students to about 37, 38 students/class, and the secondary level will have about 45 students/class.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the opening ceremony of the new school year of schools generally consists of two parts: The ceremony is organized briefly but solemnly with the following rituals: salute the flag, sing the National Anthem (do not use music with pre-recorded lyrics), read the letter from the President... The festival part organizes absolutely safe and healthy collective recreational activities, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the opening day of the new school year.
According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, in the 2024-2025 school year, the whole city will increase by 24,097 students. Of which, the high school level will increase the most with 16,999 students, 13,831 public students and 3,168 non-public students.
This school year, Ho Chi Minh City needs to recruit 3,522 teachers for the new school year. The city is focusing on promoting digital transformation, building happy schools, and drafting a set of criteria to recognize schools that use English as a second language.
