In Lang Son province, on average, about 1,400 vehicles of goods clear customs for export and import through border gates every day. According to statistics, on June 19, the total number of vehicles transporting export and import goods through border gates in this locality was 1,365 vehicles, of which 396 vehicles of export goods (including 280 vehicles of fruit, 116 vehicles of other goods) and 969 vehicles of import goods.

Since the beginning of the year, import and export activities through Lang Son province have been going smoothly at Huu Nghi border gates, Dong Dang International Railway Station border gates, Chi Ma, Tan Thanh. Since the beginning of May, the southern provinces have begun the fruit harvest season, so the number of vehicles carrying goods to Lang Son province's border gates has continued to increase. On average, each day, about 350-400 vehicles carry goods to the border gates, of which the average export clearance capacity is 260-280 vehicles/day. Therefore, the number of vehicles remaining at the end of the day at the border gates has increased.
According to information from the People's Committee of Lang Son province, to avoid traffic congestion and environmental sanitation at the border gate area, the Customs Department has directed the Customs Sub-Departments at the border gates to coordinate and reach an agreement with the functional forces to regulate vehicles carrying export goods into the duty-free zone. In addition, the Customs Department has posted warning information on the Department's Electronic Information Portal. At the same time, it has directly communicated to businesses and owners of goods with import and export activities to proactively regulate vehicles to the border gate reasonably, avoiding congestion of goods at the border gates and causing damage to businesses.
In order to further facilitate import and export activities, the People's Committee of Lang Son province (Vietnam) has coordinated with the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to officially open a dedicated route for transporting goods in the area of landmarks 1088/2-1089; Tan Thanh - Po Chai customs clearance (area of landmarks 1090-1091); Coc Nam - Lung Nghiu customs clearance (area of landmarks 1104-1105) belonging to the Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China) international border gate pair from May 27. This is an important milestone, creating more conditions for the two sides to enhance people-to-people exchanges, expand cooperation in tourism; continue to maintain stable trade activities through border gates, promote import and export activities of goods.
It is known that in recent years, two-way import and export activities through the border gates of Lang Son province (Vietnam) and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) have been smooth and vibrant. In particular, in 2023, the total import and export turnover of all types through the border gates of Lang Son province (Vietnam) - Guangxi (China) reached over 52 billion USD, an increase of more than 85% compared to 2022.
The Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone said that the total import and export turnover through Lang Son province in May 2024 of all types of import and export (business, transit, border gate transfer, independent transportation) reached 4,618.16 million USD.
Since the beginning of the year, the total import and export turnover through Lang Son province of all types of import and export has reached 20,129.58 million USD. Of which, the import and export turnover declared at Lang Son Provincial Customs Department reached 1,750.85 million USD, an increase of 30% over the same period.

In Lao Cai province, import and export activities are also bustling and stable. Statistics show that in May, at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II, the volume of exported goods and vehicles increased sharply compared to previous months due to durian and fabric entering the main season, so the volume of exported goods coming to the border gate increased sharply. The main export items are peeled wood, dragon fruit, watermelon, durian, jackfruit, banana, rambutan, mango, cassava, etc.; imported flowers, ornamental plants, fresh vegetables and fruits, coke, fertilizer, machinery and equipment, confectionery, electric energy, etc.
The average number of vehicles clearing customs at the border gate is about 470 vehicles/day; of which 240 vehicles/day are exported and 230 vehicles/day are imported. The total value of export, import, purchase and sale of goods through the border gates in May 2024 is estimated at 329.66 million USD, an increase of 8.87% compared to April 2024, an increase of 89.22% compared to the same period in 2023. The cumulative value is estimated at 1,151.14 million USD, an increase of 53.05% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 25.58% of the plan.
