Painter Nguyen Ngan won the C prize at the 28th Red River Delta Regional Fine Arts Exhibition.

Among the 5 works awarded B and C prizes (no A prize) at the 28th Regional Fine Arts Exhibition II (Red River Delta) in 2023 (abbreviated as the Exhibition) held in Hung Yen and Ha Nam provinces, the woodcut painting "Making a Living" by artist Nguyen Ngan won the C prize.

This is the only work of art among 11 works by 11 Ha Nam authors introduced at the Exhibition to win the award.

“Making a living” is a woodcut, measuring 60x110 cm, depicting the working scene of coastal residents. With a tight composition and delicate lines, the painting evokes emotions in viewers about the beauty of labor behind the hardships that fishermen go through in their daily lives.

In addition to the C prize-winning work of artist Nguyen Ngan, Ha Nam also has the ceramic work "Tuoi Tho III" by artist Pham Van Hoa (the author is not yet a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association) selected by the Organizing Committee to be introduced for the award of the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations.

The 28th Fine Arts Exhibition of Region II (Red River Delta) in 2023 takes place on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, introducing 198 fine arts works created from July 2022 to June 2023 by 186 authors, including 103 works by 91 authors who are members of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association; 95 works by 95 authors who are members and collaborators of the Association/Union of Literature and Arts Associations of the provinces/cities: Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong.

Using many different materials and diverse styles of expression, the works displayed at the Exhibition vividly reflect the reality of social life, achievements in the country's renovation, and the traditional cultural beauty of the residents of the Red River Delta in particular and the whole country in general.

The Exhibition Organizing Committee awarded B prizes to 2 works by 2 authors: “Rain Praying Festival”, lacquer material by Nguyen Thai Co (Hung Yen), “New Day News” acrylic material by Nguyen Tien Quan (Hai Duong); 3 works were awarded C prizes and 6 works were awarded Encouragement prizes. The exhibition did not have any works awarded A prizes.
