(Dan Tri) - Mr. Philipp Rösler is a German of Vietnamese origin, who has many activities towards his homeland. At Vietravel Airlines, he will advise the airline on its strategy in expanding international cooperation.
At the 2023 annual general meeting of shareholders, Vietravel Airlines shareholders elected two new members of the Board of Directors for the 2022-2027 term. Notably, Mr. Philipp Rösler, Chairman of the VinaCapital Venture International Advisory Board and former Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, became an independent member of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines from October 23.
He will take on the role of strategic advisor to the company in expanding international cooperation; acting as a bridge between the company and investors in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Philipp Rösler was born in 1973 in Vietnam, an orphan and adopted by a German couple when he was 9 months old. He currently has more than 30 years of experience in the economic field, having held many important positions in large corporations around the world such as Siemens, Deutsche Bahn and Lufthansa.

In 2009, Mr. Philipp Rösler held the position of German Minister of Health. He is also the youngest Minister in the German Federal Government and the first person of Vietnamese origin to become a Minister in a European country.
In 2011, Mr. Philipp Rösler took office as the youngest Chairman in the history of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and served as Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economics and Technology in the German Government. He left politics in December 2013.
Since 2014, he and his family moved to Zurich (Germany) to establish an investment consulting company in Switzerland to support promoting investment cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, especially Vietnam.
As a member of the Executive Board of the World Economic Forum (WEF), in 2018, Mr. Philipp Rösler supported Vietnam in implementing a number of initiatives related to the 4.0 industrial revolution and the WEF East Asia Conference.
In September 2021, Mr. Philipp Rösler was appointed Honorary Consul in Zurich and Zug (Switzerland). He is expected to become a bridge to promote business connections between Vietnam and the German-speaking region of Switzerland.
Besides Mr. Philipp Rösler, Vietravel Airlines shareholders also elected Mr. Doan Hai Dang, General Director of World Trans Joint Stock Company - a new shareholder - as a member of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines.
The Congress also approved the appointment of Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Mai - Head of Internal Audit Department of Vietravel Group to the Board of Supervisors of Vietravel Airlines for the 2022-2027 term, replacing Mr. Do Thanh Hung, Chief Financial Officer of Vietravel Group, whose decision to resign from the position of Head of the Board of Supervisors of Vietravel Airlines was previously approved.
