Former Barca and Spain coach Luis Enrique will replace Christophe Galtier to lead PSG from the 2023-2024 season.

Enrique is set to sign a two-year contract with PSG, after arriving in Paris for talks on June 28 and 29. According to Goal , the Ligue 1 champions will announce Enrique as their new coach on June 30, immediately after terminating Galtier's contract. PSG contacted Enrique about two weeks ago. The board of directors feels confident in the club's development project of the former Barca and Spain coach.

Enrique has coached Barca B, Roma, Celta Vigo and Barca. With Barca, from 2014 to 2017, he won two La Ligas, three Copa del Reys, one Spanish Super Cup, one Champions League, one European Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup and a treble. In the 2016-2017 season, in the Champions League round of 16, Enrique's team crushed PSG 6-1 in the second leg, after losing 0-4 in the first leg.

Enrique led the Spanish national team from July 2018 until the end of the 2022 World Cup. He led the team to the semi-finals of Euro 2021, second place in the 2020-2021 Nations League and to the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup.

Galtier signed a two-year contract with PSG in the summer of 2022. The French coach led the club to Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup, but lost 0-3 on aggregate to Bayern in the Champions League round of 16. Previously, Galtier won a French League Cup with St Etienne and a Ligue 1 with Lille.

This summer, PSG have agreed deals to sign midfielders Manuel Ugarte, Lee Kang In, Cher Ndourm, striker Marco Asensio, defenders Lucas Hernandez and Milan Skriniar. Meanwhile, they have released Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos.

In mid-June, striker Kylian Mbappe sent a letter to PSG's board of directors announcing that he would not extend his contract from June 2024 to June 2025 as planned. If he is not sold this summer, PSG could lose Mbappe for free next year. The board of directors is trying to convince the French striker to change his mind, while also planning to sell him to recover the transfer fee.
