The Korean strategist also praised rookie Vo Hoang Minh Khoa: "As the audience can see, Minh Khoa performed well in the role of midfielder, he moved well. I think I made the right choice about Minh Khoa's playing position. He will do better in the next matches."

Against the underdog Laos team, the Vietnamese team did not take long to dominate the game. In the 11th minute, Chau Ngoc Quang opened the scoring with a close-range shot. At the end of the first half, Van Vi doubled the lead with a header after Hai Long's long-range shot.

In the second half, coach Kim Sang Sik's team continued to dominate and in the 50th minute, Van Vi completed his double, raising the score to 3-0 after a shot from outside the penalty area. Hai Long also left his mark with a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area in the 63rd minute, helping the Vietnamese team lead 4-0.

The home team's impressive victory was concluded in the 84th minute with a beautiful close-range volley from Quang Hai. With a big 5-0 win over Laos, the Vietnamese team had a perfect start in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
