On the afternoon of October 31, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council had a working session with the Provincial People's Committee to conduct thematic supervision on "Prevention and control of crimes related to "black credit" activities; crimes using high technology to defraud and appropriate property.

Recently, the situation of criminals using high technology to defraud and appropriate property in the whole country in general and Nghe An province in particular has become complicated, causing public outrage.

Faced with the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee has issued many documents directing relevant departments, branches, and People's Committees at all levels to resolutely and effectively deploy the fight against crime in general, the prevention and fight against "black credit" crimes, and crimes using high technology to defraud and appropriate property.

Colonel Tran Hong Quang - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department reported on the fight against black credit crimes and crimes using high technology to defraud and appropriate property at the meeting.

As of June 30, 2024, the provincial authorities have discovered, arrested, and prosecuted 105 cases and 123 defendants for usury; prosecuted 105 cases and 220 defendants for fraud and appropriation of property using high-tech tricks, proving that the amount of money the subjects appropriated was over 750 billion VND, and brought 102 cases and 146 defendants to trial.

In addition to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Council's monitoring delegation requested to clarify further issues such as: Solutions to improve the effectiveness of prevention, detection and handling of high-tech crimes and black credit; Mechanism for providing and exchanging information between police, judicial and cultural agencies to strengthen propaganda work; The situation of junk SIM cards still exists quite commonly, used by criminals as tools for committing crimes; The use of non-owner bank accounts as tools for committing crimes still occurs quite a lot...

Therefore, in recent times, the Provincial People's Committee has resolutely directed the Public Security, Justice, Banking sectors... to regularly update the situation of the operation methods of high-tech crimes and black credit, always being one step ahead in the work of preventing, combating, detecting and fighting against this type of crime.

In the context of sectors and fields promoting digital transformation, the explosion of information technology, social networking platforms, and increasingly sophisticated and complicated cyber frauds, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested all levels, sectors, and functional forces to strengthen propaganda, dissemination, and raise awareness and basic skills for people to ensure information security in cyberspace, and prevent risks early and from afar.
