Eager to admire the ice on Mau Son peak

– Starting from the afternoon of January 22, the cold air has directly affected many places in the province, including Mau Son peak, Loc Binh district, where the temperature has dropped and frost has appeared. From 2022 to 2024, frost has appeared on Mau Son peak again. After information about frost appearing in Mau Son, tourists from all over have flocked to Mau Son peak to visit, take photos and keep these interesting images.

Many tourists flock to Mau Son to see the ice

Immediately after receiving information that Mau Son was covered in thick, white ice, at 8:00 a.m. on January 23, we departed from Lang Son city to move up to Mau Son mountain. Despite the cold weather, freezing cold with rain, from the intersection of National Highway 4B and the road to Mau Son, tourists from all over still flocked to the top of Mau Son to see the ice.

To ensure the safety of tourists as well as regulate traffic, the authorities also arrived quite early to carry out their duties. Mr. Hua Van Chan, Traffic Inspector, Department of Transport said: As early as 7:30 a.m., we were present at Mau Son mountain area to check and regulate traffic. At this time, many people went to the top of the mountain to see the frost, starting from early afternoon, some roads were locally congested, we are actively regulating traffic to ensure the safety of tourists.

It took us 2 hours to reach the top of Mau Son. Before our eyes were hills, mountainsides, trees, and structures covered in layers of ice. Tourists from all over flocked here and were extremely excited by this amazing natural phenomenon that not many places have. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province said: After hearing that Mau Son had frost, I prepared and left at 4am to be able to get there as quickly as possible to see the frost. Although this was my third time here, I was still very excited, the scenery covered in a layer of pure white ice was very beautiful, this was also an opportunity for me to capture special moments in winter.

Tourists take photos with ice on Mau Son peak

It is known that frost appeared from around 4 pm on January 22, after that, frost appeared thicker and more. Mr. Hoang Quoc Huy, Head of Mau Son Meteorological Station said: On the morning of January 23, frost appeared thicker, the temperature measured on the top of Mau Son this morning was -1.8 degrees Celsius. According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the next 1 to 2 days, there will continue to be additional cold air, the temperature is forecast to continue to decrease and frost may last for the next 1-2 days, tourists going to Mau Son for sightseeing and taking photos need to proactively keep their bodies warm.

To ensure food and rest conditions for tourists, relevant units have proactively inspected and disseminated information at accommodation and dining establishments in Mau Son tourist area. Mr. Nguyen Minh Chuyen, an officer of Lang Son Tourism Promotion Center, said: Currently, on Mau Son peak, there are 3 accommodation establishments, over 10 dining establishments, and shops serving tourists. Before the information about frost appeared, we had communicated to the establishments not to increase service prices, ensure food safety and hygiene, and maintain environmental hygiene. Thereby, the establishments have proactively planned to welcome guests, however, up to now, the accommodation establishments have been overloaded due to the large number of tourists. Some tourists have eaten and stayed at the homes of local people around Mau Son mountain area.

According to the forecast of the authorities, on the afternoon of January 23, the temperature will continue to decrease and the top of Mau Son will remain icy, and there may even be snow. Therefore, when going to Mau Son tourist area, visitors need to proactively ensure safety measures and keep their bodies warm to be able to fully enjoy the attractive natural landscape.
