Police are searching for the person who sent an email threatening a bomb attack at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, where the opening game of the Major League Baseball (MLB) season is scheduled to take place on March 20.
According to Yonhap, police said they received a report from an employee at the Korean Consulate General in Vancouver, Canada about an email threatening to detonate a bomb during a game between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers, targeting superstar Shohei Ohtani and others. The email was written in English and the writer identified himself as a lawyer.
Police are searching for the sender and have deployed 30 commandos and 120 personnel to search the stadium, but no dangerous or suspicious situations have been discovered. The March 20 game kicks off the 2024 MLB season in Seoul, called the “MLB World Tour Seoul Series 2024.” This will also be the first time MLB has played in Korea.
