The Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) said that on June 30, the Ministry of Justice of Korea issued Order No. 1054 announcing the adjustment of some contents of the "Immigration Management Law Enforcement Rules".
Order No. 1054 allows E8 seasonal workers to extend their stay, with the total stay not exceeding 8 months from the date of entry. This amendment will be applied from June 30, 2023 to seasonal workers currently working in Korea.
Based on Resolution No. 59/NQ-CP of the Government on continuing to pilot sending Vietnamese workers to work seasonally in Korea under the form of cooperation between localities of the two countries for a period of 5 years, from January 1, 2022, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has issued instructions for localities to implement.
Seasonal workers are paid a salary of 2,010,580 KRW/month (equivalent to 37.3 million VND, according to the current won exchange rate) (Photo: Dao Thi Thai).
Accordingly, on the basis of the cooperative relationship between Vietnamese localities and Korean localities, the Provincial People's Committee or authorized agency will discuss and sign a cooperation agreement on sending workers to work seasonally in Korea.
This is a non-profit cooperation program between localities of the two countries, so businesses are not assigned to carry out activities of sending workers under this program.
Seasonal labor in Korea applies to workers aged 30-55, who are long-term residents in the locality and sign an agreement; and have full civil capacity.
To participate and learn about the pilot program to send Vietnamese workers to work seasonally in Korea, the Department of Overseas Labor Management recommends that workers only contact the local Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs where they reside, and not register to participate with any individual or organization broker.
Other conditions for candidates are not having a criminal record and not being banned from leaving the country or temporarily suspended from leaving the country according to the law; being healthy enough to work abroad; working in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, etc.
Under this program, workers are paid according to the minimum wage prescribed annually by Korea (in 2023, this salary is 2,010,580 KRW/month, or about 37 million VND).
Workers enjoy working hours, rest, working conditions, food, accommodation, living expenses, insurance, medical examination and treatment costs according to Korean regulations and are partially supported by Korean localities to buy round-trip airfare...
Workers are responsible for complying with the instructions of the sending locality and the laws of the host country, especially the conditions for returning home immediately after completing the labor contract.
