The author team of Dr. Thai Hoang Chien and Dr. Phung Van Phuc was awarded the EABE Best Paper Awards 2023 for the outstanding paper with the most scientific impact in the past three years.

In 2023, three scientific articles were awarded (considering all articles in 2020, 2021 and 2022). In which, the work of the group of authors Thai Hoang Chien (Ton Duc Thang University) and Dr. Phung Van Phuc (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) led the list of EABE Best Paper Awards, announced on December 25. The award recognizes the outstanding article with the most scientific influence in three consecutive years of the journal Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements (EABE), which is listed in the prestigious ISI category according to Nafosted. This is the first time a group of Vietnamese authors has been named in this award.

The study has proposed a new method to support the calculation of structures using composite materials, stiffened structures, and applications in the field of computational mechanics.

The study proposes a meshfree method stability correction to calculate complex reinforced structures. This new approach increases the stability components in the structural calculation, limiting most of the disturbances and large errors in the calculation results when using the traditional meshfree method.

These results are directly applied to structural calculations in construction, calculating stability, impact and durability of car, aircraft and high-speed train hulls. The research is also applied to the calculation of most structures using reinforced composite materials to simplify the process, reduce calculation costs, and have high accuracy and reliability.

The EABE Best Paper Awards were first announced by the Editorial Board in 2018. A team of professors from the Editorial Board selected the papers published in the previous 3 years with the most scientific influence. In addition to their groundbreaking scientific content, the awarded works must have an impact on the world scientific community.

Sharing with VnExpress , the research team is very honored to receive the award "which is a great encouragement" and wishes to promote cooperation with scientists around the world. In particular, they hope to be able to contribute a small part to the training and guidance of students and postgraduates to create high-quality human resources in the field of computational mechanics.

Dr. Thai Hoang Chien and Dr. Phung Van Phuc are scientists in the top 1% of the world specializing in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, because of their highly cited research and contributions in the fields they are pursuing.

Dr. Chien has been on the list of the world's top 100,000 scientists for many years. He is a member of the Computational Mechanics (DCM) research group, one of the first research groups at Ton Duc Thang University. Dr. Chien has published nearly 100 research papers, many of which are in ISI journals. In 2023, he was one of five Vietnamese scientists to be awarded the "Rising Star" badge - an outstanding rising scientific star in the world.

Dr. Phuc is a Vietnamese scientist familiar in world rankings. He has been on the list of the world's 100,000 most influential scientists for 5 consecutive years, and is also one of 2 scientists to be awarded the "Rising Star" badge for two consecutive years - an outstanding rising star in science in the world in 2022 and 2023. Dr. Phuc has published more than 60 scientific works in international journals in the ISI list with research in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace.
