Honoring 88 valedictorians of 2024

(NLDO) - Of the 88 valedictorians at universities, academies, and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City, 43 were admitted and 45 were graduated.

On the evening of December 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center organized the 11th "Honoring Valedictorians" program - 2024.

Many valedictorians have won many awards in scientific research, participated in international student exchange programs, and have international scientific articles.

In 2024, the program's organizing committee selected and honored 88 valedictorians. Of these, 43 were valedictorians, had excellent academic achievements, and had an admission score of 26 or higher (24 or higher for college students). Many had high achievements in excellent student exams, subject Olympic exams at all levels, were "3-good students" at school and city levels, and actively participated in social activities...

45 valedictorians graduated with many academic achievements, are exemplary union and association officials, won the "5 Good Students" award at all levels, the January Star award, conducted scientific research, participated in international student exchange programs, and had international scientific articles.

Notably, two students, Vu Thanh Loc (Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy) and Nguyen Huu Hung (University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU-HCM) became double valedictorians, being both the valedictorian of admission and the valedictorian of graduation.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, praised the outstanding achievements of the valedictorians.

“I hope that the valedictorians will continue to promote their achievements, strive to study, master knowledge, actively participate in the Youth Union - Association movement and accumulate necessary skills to become “5 good students” and exemplary young citizens. The young generation continues to cultivate virtue and talent, develop themselves in all aspects, and contribute to the development of the country and the city,” Mr. Cuong advised.

According to a survey on the employment situation and needs after graduation in the records of valedictorians of schools in November 2024, 62% of graduating valedictorians are interested in the city's policies for talented students seeking job opportunities in the public sector; 25% are working in the public sector; 28% continue to study at higher levels at domestic and international universities; 46% are working in the private sector,...

After 11 years of organization, the "Honoring Valedictorians" program has honored 869 outstanding freshmen and bachelors, including 427 admitted valedictorians and 442 graduating valedictorians, of which 164 students achieved excellent results, accounting for 37%.
