Ha Tinh strengthens management and use of biological pesticides

The People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has just issued a directive document on strengthening the management and use of biological pesticides to meet the goals of safe production, ensuring health and protecting the environment.

Every year, the whole province uses about 206 tons of pesticides to prevent pests on crops, of which the amount of biological pesticides used only accounts for about 5%.

The abuse of chemical pesticides is leaving many unpredictable consequences, polluting the environment and affecting human health.

Pursuant to Document No. 8092/TB-BNN-VP dated November 9, 2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the announcement of the Conclusion of Deputy Minister Hoang Trung at the Conference "Development of production and use of biological pesticides"; at the same time, meeting the requirements of production development to ensure food security, food safety, environmental protection and people's health, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province requests directors of departments, heads of relevant departments and branches and chairmen of People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to implement the following contents:

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development propagates, provides technical guidance on use and raises people's awareness of the role and long-term effects of using biological pesticides to prevent and control plant pests, and only uses chemical pesticides when absolutely necessary.

Strengthening the dissemination of information and propaganda on legal regulations on business for organizations and individuals trading in plant protection drugs; conducting inspections and examinations of compliance with the law on production, trading and quality of plant protection drugs; strictly handling organizations and individuals who violate the law; publicly announcing organizations and individuals who violate the law on mass media according to regulations. Based on requirements and practical production conditions, proactively coordinate with departments, branches and localities to advise and propose specific and strong policies to encourage and support organizations and individuals to invest in developing the production and use of biological plant protection drugs.

The Department of Information and Communications coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant units to guide press agencies, district-level media agencies, and grassroots information to carry out propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations on the business and use of biological pesticides.

Provincial Radio and Television Station and Ha Tinh Newspaper strengthen information and propaganda work to raise people's awareness and understanding of the safe and effective use of biological pesticides.

Fruit orchards use biological pesticides and apply integrated farming processes to bring high productivity.

The People's Committees of districts, cities and towns organize training and guidance for producers on the use of pesticides in the list of pesticides permitted for use in Vietnam issued under Circular No. 09/2023/TT-BNNPTNT dated October 24, 2023 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; prioritize the use of biological pesticides, only use chemical pesticides when necessary. Strengthen propaganda and dissemination of laws on pesticide trading and safe and effective use of pesticides. Coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant units to organize inspections and examinations of pesticide trading and trading, and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate regulations.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to inspect, guide, and urge departments, branches, units, and localities to implement and report to the Provincial People's Committee and competent authorities according to regulations.
