Quitting her job in the city, Ms. Vo Thi Nhung Nhi (30 years old) returned to her hometown in village 5, Dak Mar commune (Dak Ha district, Kon Tum) to build a circular agricultural farm model, which after 2 years brought in a profit of 500 million VND/year.

In contrast to the withering scene of the dry season in the Central Highlands , Ms. Nhi's 2-hectare clean agricultural farm in Dak Mar commune is always green. This is the result of her more than 2 years of "leaving the city to return to the countryside".

In 2017, Nhi graduated from university with a degree in finance and marketing. After graduating, she worked in communications for a company with a stable income. Thanks to that, she had the opportunity to travel to many countries. It was also from her business trips abroad, exposed to advanced organic agricultural models, that she thought about applying that model in her hometown. After nurturing the idea for a few years, after careful consideration, she decided to put aside development opportunities in the city to return to her hometown to build an organic agricultural model.

"I thought for a long time, leaving stability to start over is a risky move. But the further I go, the more I miss home, miss this sunny and windy Central Highlands land. Therefore, I want to do something to contribute to the development of my hometown," said Nhi.

The first days were not easy, Ms. Nhi had to get used to trees, soil and rocks again. From her family's mixed garden, she started to improve the soil, grow fruit trees and implement organic farming methods, clean agricultural products. She learned from the smallest things, from planting techniques to weeding, catching insects, how to fertilize and irrigate crops in the dry season... Not only that, she also visited effective crop and livestock models to learn from experience. When the garden began to bear fruit, she learned how to take care of it and struggled to find outlets for the products.

"There are times when I feel tired and want to stop. But I remind myself that this is the path I chose and I don't want to waste any opportunity," Nhi shared.

Ms. Nhi makes the most of available resources, self-sufficient to develop the farm. She makes organic fertilizer from coffee husks, grass stems, uses available food sources from banana stems or damaged fruit trees to raise pigs and hill chickens. After two years, she turned her farm into a closed garden - pond - barn model. In addition to fruit trees such as durian, jackfruit, avocado..., she also raises wild boars, hill chickens and experiments with growing medicinal plants. At the same time, she also raises some potential fish such as snakehead fish, carp...

Associated with local sustainable agricultural development

Thanks to the support of friends and partners, Ms. Nhi's products gradually became known. Thanks to the quality of the products, the first customers helped her introduce the products to many others. From only selling her family's products, she began to connect with surrounding gardeners, build a clean agricultural production process and increase the value of the products.

To date, Nhi’s farm has brought in a profit of about 500 million VND per year. Not stopping there, she has also cooperated with domestic and foreign businesses and scientists to implement projects to produce functional foods from medicinal plants or develop agricultural tourism.

"The circular agriculture model not only helps us make the most of available resources, but also creates clean, safe products for consumers' health. I believe that with support and connections from many sides, clean agriculture not only has great potential but is also a solution to protect the environment," said Nhi.

Mr. Ha Quoc Manh, Secretary of Dak Ha District Youth Union, said that Ms. Vo Thi Nhung Nhi is a young, knowledgeable example, daring to think, daring to do, daring to realize her dreams and ambitions. In particular, her circular agricultural model is associated with the sustainable development of the locality, worth learning for everyone. Dak Ha District Youth Union always encourages members to boldly start a business, develop clean agriculture, organic agriculture with restructuring , and crops and livestock that bring high income.
