According to the report of Hanoi Department of Tourism, in March 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi reached 2.61 million, an increase of 6.8% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international tourists are estimated at 709,000, an increase of 9.9% over the same period in 2024; domestic tourists are estimated at 1.91 million, an increase of 6.2% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 10,960 billion, an increase of 8.1% over the same period in 2024.
In the first quarter of 2025, Hanoi is estimated to welcome 7.3 million visitors, an increase of 8.7% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international tourists are estimated to reach 1.85 million, an increase of 17.4% over the same period in 2024; domestic tourists are estimated to reach 5.45 million, an increase of 6% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach VND 29,930 billion, an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2024.
Hanoi currently has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,256 rooms; of which 85 hotels and apartment complexes are within the 1-5 star rating period with a total of 11,965 rooms. Specifically, there are 23 hotels and 7 apartment complexes with 5-star rating; 16 hotels and 1 apartment complex with 4-star rating; 12 hotels with 3-star rating; 14 hotels with 2-star rating and 12 hotels with 1-star rating. The number of unregistered tourist accommodation establishments with 59,291 rooms is 3,676.
In Hanoi, there are currently 97 service establishments recognized as meeting standards for serving tourists, including 45 food service establishments, 43 shopping service establishments, 7 entertainment establishments, and 2 health care service establishments. The system of shopping, dining, and entertainment establishments that meet standards for serving tourists has attracted and served a large number of tourists and residents to visit and shop.
The average room occupancy rate of hotels in March 2025 is estimated at 62.25%, down 2.1% over the same period in 2024. The average room occupancy rate of accommodation establishments in the first quarter is estimated at 61.6%, down 0.5% over the same period in 2024.
As of March 18, 2025, in Hanoi, there are 2,045 international travel service businesses; 524 domestic travel service businesses; 32 tourist transport businesses, 7 representative offices of foreign travel service businesses; 6,528 international tour guides; 2,412 domestic tour guides and 158 on-site tour guides in operation.
In the first quarter of 2025, the Hanoi Department of Tourism appraised 522 applications for granting, changing, and re-granting tour guide cards; issued plans for building tourism products, promoting cooperation and developing domestic and international markets.
Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi has successfully organized the program "Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025 - Get on Hanoi 2025"; coordinated with the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations to organize the 2025 Friendship Spring Tour program in Me Linh district with the participation of more than 400 domestic and international delegates.
Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that in the coming time, Hanoi Department of Tourism will develop and develop a plan to organize the opening and launch of new tourism products such as: Experiential tourism products associated with heritage values - relics at Ha Mo tourist site, Dan Phuong district; the tourism route "Nam Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road" in Thanh Tri, Thuong Tin, Phu Xuyen districts; Community tourism model associated with the actual experience of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in An Phu commune, My Duc district; rural agricultural tourism model in Tich Giang commune, Phuc Tho district; continue to advise and organize the implementation of the work of appraising and recognizing tourist areas and spots in the city.
Hanoi Department of Tourism will strengthen communication, propaganda, and promotion of tourism images, destinations, and new tourism products of the capital on domestic and international media and television channels to attract visitors to Hanoi with a consistent message.
“Hanoi - Come to love” and “Hanoi - Safe and attractive tourist destination”; organize a series of events and attractive and unique programs to promote tourism in the capital in a professional manner.
At the same time, proactively develop a tourism promotion plan in domestic and international markets from the beginning of the year, in a professional direction, with focused and key investments to create a high-quality image of Hanoi as a destination. Continue to implement the editing and translation of standardized explanations from Vietnamese into foreign languages including 5 languages: English, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
In addition, we will proactively coordinate and link training, improve the quality of human resources at the same time, three teams: state management, business administration and tourism workers are truly professional in terms of expertise, foreign languages, and skills. Implement the application of national tourism occupational standards in training and teaching, moving towards applying international occupational standards; promote training and fostering for the tourism community in vocational skills and soft skills, civilized tourism behavior, raise awareness of responsibility for sustainable tourism development; promote the application of digital address platforms in tourism activities; continue to digitize the digital information system on tourist areas, tourist attractions, tourism service establishments, and Hanoi tourism market.
