Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper had a conversation with journalist Hoang Ngoc Sy - Permanent Vice President of the Quang Tri Journalists Association (HNB) before the New Year to see more clearly the "colors of the Quang Tri Spring Press Festival".
Bringing the Spring Press Festival to the grassroots
+ As scheduled, this year the 2024 Giap Thin Spring Press Festival organized by HNB Quang Tri has begun to prepare. Sir, with the theme: "Celebrating the Party, celebrating Spring, celebrating the renewed homeland", what new features will the Spring Press Festival have?
- Every year, when Tet comes, implementing the policy of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the consent of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Journalists Association coordinates with departments, branches and localities to organize the Spring Press Festival. Organizing the Spring Press Festival is one of the annual activities of the Quang Tri Journalists Association, an opportunity for journalist members of central and local press agencies to meet, exchange and introduce press publications to cadres and people in localities in the province.
This year, HNB cooperated with Vinh Linh district to organize the Giap Thin Spring Newspaper Festival 2024. This is also a special cultural event of Vinh Linh district officials and people and Quang Tri journalists in a series of meaningful activities towards the 70th anniversary of Vinh Linh Traditional Day August 25 (1954 - 2024), along with important holidays of the homeland and the country. At the same time, it contributes significantly to the orientation of reading culture for readers, adding a new flavor to the activities celebrating the Party, celebrating Spring, celebrating the homeland, and the country's renewal, which are held enthusiastically in the heroic homeland of Vinh Linh, which is rising strongly in the cause of construction and development. The new feature this year is that Vinh Linh district has added booths of OCOP products and products with local potential and advantages to introduce and sell products, contributing to introducing and spreading the potential and strengths of the locality to the public in the province...

+ As you shared, this year's Spring Press Festival is more special because of the coordination with the province towards the 70th anniversary of Vinh Linh tradition (August 25, 1954 - August 25, 2024), 70 years of Vinh Linh Special Zone (June 16, 1954 - June 16, 2025). So how will the coordination be carried out so that the Spring Press Festival becomes a festival for journalists, the press public and local people?
- As early as September 2023, the Provincial HNB sent an Official Dispatch to the Provincial People's Committee asking for direction on coordinating with Vinh Linh district to organize the Giap Thin Spring Press Festival 2024. On September 28, 2023, the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 4957/UBND-KGVX on organizing the Giap Thin Spring Press Festival 2024, agreeing to let the Provincial HNB coordinate with Vinh Linh district to organize the Giap Thin Spring Press Festival 2024 in Vinh Linh district.
On that basis, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Newspaper Association has coordinated with the People's Committee of Vinh Linh district to develop a detailed plan for the Spring Newspaper Festival to take place meaningfully and consider it as a festival that attracts a large number of people to come and enjoy spring newspapers nationwide. And Vinh Linh district has also included the Spring Newspaper Festival program in a series of activities towards the 70th anniversary of Vinh Linh Traditional Day August 25 (1954 - 2024) of the district and the province.
It can be said that the policy of bringing the Spring Press Festival to the grassroots level is one of the unique features that we pay great attention to. The integration of activities about traditions and important local anniversaries will create a more joyful and meaningful spring atmosphere. This will become a special cultural event for the cadres and people of Vinh Linh district and Quang Tri journalists in a series of meaningful activities towards celebrating the important holidays of the homeland and the country. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to praise the achievements of innovation of Quang Tri press and the press of the whole country, a place for journalists to meet and exchange with a large number of newspaper readers, radio listeners and television viewers, connecting the companionship between the press and local authorities and businesses, creating conditions for the people to enjoy the dedicated, creative and attractive press products of the team of journalists over the past year...
When OCOP returns to the Spring Newspaper Festival…
+ “Prepare OCOP booths to display at the Spring Newspaper Festival space and arrange 2 female MCs to introduce OCOP products and press publications during the 3 days and nights of newspaper display…” – This is quite an interesting content responding to the policy of the Vietnam Journalists Association, can you share more about this idea?
- I am very happy that this year, when developing the plan, Vinh Linh district agreed and immediately had the idea of displaying and selling OCOP products and local strengths. This is a new idea and in line with the policy of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Therefore, the leaders of Vinh Linh district have directed relevant departments, agencies and sectors to actively mobilize localities to participate. And the district has also directed relevant departments and agencies such as the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training, and the District Economic Department to have a specific plan for introducing central and local press publications, introducing OCOP products in an attractive way to attract people to come and see, read newspapers and buy OCOP products displayed at the Giap Thin Spring Newspaper Festival 2024.

+ Connecting businesses to participate in press activities and Association activities has never been an easy task. How has Quang Tri Newspaper Association implemented this work? What are your expectations for this "joint effort" in the success of the Spring Newspaper Festival and towards the success of the 2024 National Newspaper Festival held in Ho Chi Minh City?
- It must be said that 2023 is a year of many difficulties, many businesses are operating at a loss and are at a standstill, so mobilizing or supporting businesses for charitable activities is very difficult. In that situation, HNB has actively coordinated with localities and a number of businesses to support and "join hands" so that the Spring Press Festival takes place in a vibrant, rich and diverse manner. HNB, together with press agencies in the province, journalists, and resident reporters of central newspapers residing in the area, called on businesses to support the awarding of many gifts and scholarships to poor students at the Spring Press Festival.
In addition, we also mobilized some businesses to remote areas to give Tet gifts to poor and single-parent families. These are also material and spiritual gifts from Quang Tri journalists, although small, they also contribute to helping those in difficult circumstances to be less deprived during the coming Tet holiday and spring. In particular, this year the Spring Newspaper Festival held in Vinh Linh district has more booths displaying OCOP products of businesses, which will add to the richness of the Giap Thin Spring Newspaper Festival held in the homeland of Vinh Linh steel ramparts, where Uncle Ho gave two immortal verses: "Fighting to destroy the American invaders/ 5 continents praise heroic Vinh Linh" in the resistance war against America to save the country.
