On the evening of April 20, heavy rain and thunderstorms lasting about 30 minutes in Hanoi caused many trees to be uprooted.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Parks and Trees Company said: “Trees on many streets in Hanoi were uprooted after the storm. The company is dispatching workers to deal with fallen trees blocking the road.”

According to VietNamNet reporters, at nearly 9 p.m., on Trang Thi, Quan Su, and Nha Chung streets, some trees were uprooted and had broken branches blocking the sidewalk and roadway, affecting traffic.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh said that the Hanoi Parks and Trees Company is sending people to cut down trees blocking Trang Thi Street and some other streets to facilitate traffic.

Tonight, in some districts of Hanoi such as Cau Giay, My Duc, Chuong My, Ung Hoa, hail appeared.

A leader of the People's Committee of Nam Phuong Tien commune (Chuong My district) confirmed that a thunderstorm with hail appeared in the area at around 7:30 p.m.

“The hailstorm lasted for a short time. Local authorities are currently calculating the damage caused by the hailstorm,” said a leader of Nam Phuong Tien commune.

In Vien Noi commune (Ung Hoa district), people also recorded hail at around 8:00 p.m.

In Cau Giay district, people said that the hailstones fell sparsely, the size of chopsticks, and quickly shattered when they hit the ground.
