Singer MINH DUC - from the podium to the art stage

Choosing the podium to pursue a career in "cultivating people", but the passion for singing like a twin brother has brought to the amateur art movement in Binh Thuan an increasingly shining singer, originating from the education sector.

We want to talk about the singing of Minh Duc, born in 1976 - a literature teacher at Tien Thanh Secondary School (since 1997) and now Vice Principal of Trung Vuong Secondary School - Phan Thiet. 27 years of being attached to the podium is also the same amount of time Minh Duc has been attached to the artistic activities of his home province, with very valuable achievements: Silver Medal of National Student Singing (1997), Gold Medal of the 9th Eastern Singing Festival (2000), Gold Medal of the Student Mass Art Performance & Armed Forces of Military Region 7 (2001), Gold Medal of the Southern Border Mass Art Performance (2003)...

Minh Duc used to be the main singer in the comprehensive art programs and large-scale theatrical festivals of the province organized by the Department of Culture, Information and Tourism, taking place on holidays, New Year and commemorating important political events of the homeland and country.

With innate talent, well-trained in vocal music, and always humble to learn, Minh Duc is not only affirmed in the mass art movement at the provincial, regional and national levels but is also loved and respected by professional artists in the locality.

Minh Duc's forte is performing songs written in the folk style, contemporary folk or songs of the red music genre, praising leaders, homeland and country. Especially in songs that require mastery of vocal techniques, demonstrating professional singing skills such as: Uncle Ho's love brightens our lives by musician Luu Huu Phuoc, Flowing away, my river by musician Pho Duc Phuong, The Party is my life by musician Nguyen Duc Toan...

In addition, Minh Duc also spends time caring for and cherishing the compositions of local musicians; therefore, he is also one of the few singers who successfully perform songs about the land and people of Binh Thuan. Some of the songs performed by Minh Duc that have been broadcast many times on Binh Thuan radio and television include: Under the Victory Monument, Where Uncle Stops by Duc An, Echoing Songs, Voice of Songs to Send to Distant Islands by Thang Liem, Thoi Dung Bong Nua Gioi, Khuc Tu Tinh, Giai Melo Nho Thuong by Do Quang Vinh, Binh Thuan in My Heart, Em Co Ve Phan Thiet by Vinh Loc... This helps explain why Minh Duc is always given priority by musicians from the province to send him their new works for him to research and perform on the author-work stage, performed by the Provincial Cultural Center.

Never satisfied or content with his initial singing achievements; on the contrary, he is always open-minded and strictly demanding of himself in his artistic work, even though teaching is still his main profession.

In recent years, with the depth of experience and expertise, Minh Duc and his team have made over 40 MVs of love songs that he is passionate about, including famous works from before 1975 in the South such as: Call me the sorrow flower, My mother, Dry sea, Rainy month of June... He shared: "...I really like the melody and lyrics of these songs. Because most of them are suitable for my vocal strengths, there is room for the singer to express his deepest emotions...".

In March 2024, Minh Duc was admitted to the Binh Thuan Literature and Arts Association, majoring in music. We have enough basis to firmly believe that Minh Duc will reap even more worthy successes on the artistic path that is opening up wide before his eyes.
