On November 25, answering VTC News, Mr. Nguyen Anh Dai - Director of the dormitory of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education - said that he had just issued a notice on the use and arrangement of facilities and student belongings to ensure order and aesthetics of the dormitories and convenience for living, working and studying.

According to Mr. Dai, in the new announcement, there is a regulation that for the bed area, the dormitory requires students not to sleep on mattresses (mattresses, pads, extra blankets), only on mats. The bookshelf is only for books, a box with shelves for other items (cosmetics, medicine, ...), and a table lamp.

Mr. Dai affirmed that the guidance and rearrangement of facilities and student accommodation rooms comes from the reality of students' eating, living and activities with the desire to create a good environment for students' activities, prevent epidemics and ensure aesthetics.

Explaining this issue, Mr. Dai said that the dormitory management board asked students not to sleep on mattresses because recently many rooms in the dormitory have appeared with bed bugs. On the other hand, through observation, the student rooms are not clean, neat and tidy.

Therefore, the dormitory management board has asked students to rearrange facilities and furniture to ensure order, aesthetics, and convenience for living and working.

"When a room has bed bugs, it is very difficult to treat because there are many student items and they can easily spread... There was a time when 7/10 rooms on the first floor of Building A had bed bugs, the dormitory had to hire a specialized pest control company to continuously treat them for several days to get rid of them... Many students use mattresses that are not cleaned properly, are damp, moldy... or because of their constitution, they have a smell that affects those around them... ", said Mr. Dai.

Mr. Dai added that every year, when hundreds of students leave the dormitory, most of them leave behind their mattresses. Handling them is also very difficult because the waste is mattresses, it must be handled separately and there is a separate fee paid to the waste treatment area and the waste transporter to transport the waste, due to the impact on the environment when handling.

"The regulation on arranging things and limiting unused personal items in the room... is aimed at facilitating the activities of the entire room, creating an airy, clean, tidy and uniform aesthetic of the dormitory," Mr. Dai emphasized.

In addition, the dormitory management board of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also requires that the bed corners be empty, only for backpacks used for school, and the bed base be left empty. The drying yard or clothesline in the auxiliary area of each room is only for hanging coats, towels, face towels, long dresses and ironed shirts.

The dormitory requires students to use and arrange personal and collective belongings in the room. Specifically, the collective table area outside must be clean, tidy, and have a tablecloth. On the table, there should only be a water bottle, a tray of cups, and a vase of flowers.

For the shoe rack area, depending on the size, students can put more or less, but only for shoes and no other items, do not leave slippers on the floor and wear slippers in the room.

Some other requirements include students taking out the trash from 9pm to 11pm every day; students not playing games or watching movies continuously, which affects the quality of study and general living in the dormitory and dormitory area. The dormitory management board of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education requires students to do this from today until December 5th this year.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Dormitory is located at 351A Lac Long Quan, Ward 5, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, the entire dormitory has 200 rooms, housing about 1,600 students.
