Awards honoring Vietnamese people abroad

(Dan Tri) - The Vietnam International Awards honor the contributions of Vietnamese people abroad, as well as promote the image of Vietnam to international friends, and strengthen connections with overseas Vietnamese communities in other countries.

The Vietnam International Awards ceremony took place in London, England on the evening of October 20 to honor the contributions of Vietnamese and foreign organizations and individuals in the fields of culture, education, cuisine, trade promotion, volunteer work and community of Vietnamese people..., as well as to promote the image of Vietnam to international friends.

Attending the award ceremony were Minister Counsellor, Deputy Ambassador of Vietnam to the UK To Minh Thu; Mayor of the London Financial District Michael Mainelli; representatives of local authorities and representatives of associations from the UK, Vietnam and 18 European countries.

In its third year, the Vietnam International Awards 2024 attracted nearly 200 nominations from around the world, of which 60 finalists were selected.

The individuals and organizations nominated for the award are not only Vietnamese but also prestigious names from many countries, such as the Blue Dragon Children's Organization of Australia, the Toucher Arts cultural project of the Art Space cultural exchange promotion organization in France, the AVIDE association of Vietnamese experts and scientists in Denmark, and the Facing the World medical organization of the UK...

At the award ceremony, the organizing committee honored 14 individuals and organizations from Vietnam and abroad who have made many contributions to the community.

Ms. Katrin Kandel, CEO of Facing the World (FTW), received the Innovation of the Year award. FTW is a charity founded in 2002 in the UK, specializing in supporting surgery for Vietnamese children with congenital facial deformities, providing professional training for Vietnamese surgeons and funding medical equipment and technology for remote medical examination and treatment for Vietnamese hospitals.

The Outstanding Global Charity Award was presented to Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, an Australian organization that has been working in Vietnam since 2002 to support disabled children, street children and victims of human trafficking.

Toucher Arts - a cultural project that brings together Vietnamese and Vietnamese-origin youth from Vietnam and around the world to promote Vietnamese culture, music and art to the French and international community, from the perspective of the younger generation, while raising funds to support orphanages and disabled children in Vietnam - was awarded in the Creative Arts category.

The Young Talent Award was given to Kevin Nguyen, a 13-year-old Vietnamese boy living in France. He has over 2 years of experience teaching Vietnamese culture to many schools in France, as well as organizing community activities to share diverse knowledge about foreign languages, programming, world cultures, etc. with children in Vietnam and many other countries.

Professor Michael Mainelli, Lord Mayor of the City of London, said that the Vietnam International Awards are very important because they have created connections between communities not only in the UK but also in many countries. He highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the UK in contributing to the diversity and richness of London's life and culture.

The Vietnam International Awards is an annual award launched in 2022, organized by the Vietnamese community in the UK, to recognize individuals and organizations with outstanding contributions to Vietnam in many fields.
