Pig price on October 19, 2024: Slight decrease in some localities

DNVN - On October 19, 2024, the price of live pigs continued to decrease in some localities, fluctuating between 61,000 - 65,000 VND/kg.

Northern pig price

On the morning of October 19, the live hog market in the North recorded a price drop in Thai Nguyen, down to 64,000 VND/kg. Currently, only Thai Binh and Nam Dinh maintain the price of 65,000 VND/kg, while other localities trade at 64,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands region also witnessed a price decrease in many places, with purchasing prices ranging from 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg. Specifically, Dak Lak continued to decrease to 61,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the country. Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa provinces also recorded a price of 62,000 VND/kg.

Southern pig price

The southern live hog market decreased slightly, down 1,000 VND/kg in Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang. Currently, the live hog price in this area fluctuates from 62,000 - 65,000 VND/kg, with the highest price of 65,000 VND/kg recorded in Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

In general, the price of live pigs today has returned to a downward trend in some localities. The current average price nationwide is 63,800 VND/kg. According to many forecasts, the price of live pigs is unlikely to increase much at the end of the year because more imported meat will be brought in.

Animal feed prices have cooled down, helping farmers make a profit when restocking their herds. According to the General Department of Customs, in the first 9 months of 2024, corn imports reached over 8.08 million tons, with an average price of 245.4 USD/ton, up 24.3% in volume but down 2.3% in value and down 21.4% in price compared to the same period in 2023. Similarly, soybean imports in the same period reached over 1.59 million tons, with an average price of 518 USD/ton, up 8.3% in volume but down 11.7% in value and down 18.4% in price compared to the first 9 months of 2023.
