* Pig prices in the Northern region have not recorded any new fluctuations.

In particular, localities including Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang all purchased live pigs at 63,000 VND/kg - the highest in the region.

62,000 VND/kg is the purchase price recorded in other provinces.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 62,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

* The pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions is stable.

Specifically, Dak Lak province continues to trade at the lowest level in the region at 58,000 VND/kg.

The price range recorded in the remaining provinces is 59,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 58,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

* According to a survey, the price of live pigs in the Southern region remains stable.

Accordingly, live pigs in Hau Giang, Ben Tre and Soc Trang provinces were purchased at the lowest price in the region at 57,000 VND/kg.

The remaining provinces and cities traded in the range of 58,000 - 59,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today is around 57,000 - 59,000 VND/kg.

* According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the country's pork output in the second quarter of 2023 reached 14.4 million tons, up 4.6% over the same period in 2022, the highest level in the second quarter in the past 10 years.

China’s pork output is typically at its lowest in the second quarter, due to increased slaughtering during the Lunar New Year holiday. But this year, supplies are plentiful and the herd is larger than last year, even as demand falls as economic growth slows.

In the first 6 months of 2023, pork output in the world's second largest economy reached 30.3 million tons, up 3.2% over the same period in 2022; The number of pigs slaughtered reached 375.48 million, up 2.6%. Meanwhile, the pig herd in the second quarter of 2023 also increased to 435.17 million, up from 430.94 million in the first quarter of 2023. Major producers said they would reduce production in the second half of 2023.

Data from the Chinese Customs Administration shows that in the second quarter of 2023, the country imported 404.62 thousand tons of pork (HS 0203), worth 914.67 million USD, up 4.8% in volume and 20.8% in value over the same period in 2022.
