The live hog market on March 22 was relatively stable in many localities across the country, but still recorded some slight fluctuations in some provinces and cities. Meanwhile, African swine fever in Ha Tinh has basically been controlled and contained.

In the North

Pig prices today remain stable in most provinces and cities.

Localities such as Bac Giang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang all recorded unchanged prices compared to the previous day, fluctuating around 72,000 - 73,000 VND/kg.

Notably, in Thai Binh and Ninh Binh, the price of live pigs recorded a slight decrease of VND 1,000/kg, down to VND 72,000/kg.

In general, the price of live pigs in the North has little change, mainly concentrated at 72,000 - 73,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region

Similar to the North, the pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions also shows price stability as the main factor.

The provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa all maintained the price at 72,000 - 73,000 VND/kg.

The Central Highlands region has higher prices, with Lam Dong at 78,000 VND/kg and Dak Lak at 75,000 VND/kg.

However, in the South Central Coast region, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan recorded a decrease of VND 1,000/kg, down to VND 77,000/kg, respectively.

Thus, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions fluctuates between 71,000 - 78,000 VND/kg.

In the Southern region

The Southern region has more price fluctuations than the other two regions.

Most provinces and cities recorded a decrease of VND 1,000/kg such as Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh and Ben Tre, bringing the price of live pigs down to VND 77,000 - 78,000/kg.

In particular, Long An and Dong Thap had a stronger decrease, 2,000 VND/kg, also down to 77,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, Vinh Long, Kien Giang and Ca Mau maintained stable prices, at VND78,000/kg, VND78,000/kg and VND79,000/kg respectively, with Ca Mau being the locality with the highest price in the country.

Ha Tinh: African swine fever is basically under control

From the beginning of January to March 2025, in Ha Tinh, African swine fever outbreaks appeared in 2 communes of Thach Ha district, 7 communes of Cam Xuyen district, 1 commune of Huong Khe district and 3 communes of Ha Tinh city, causing more than 360 pigs to die, forcing them to be destroyed, causing damage to farmers and affecting production.

Faced with the complicated developments and potential risk of widespread spread of the epidemic, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued dispatch No. 04/CD-UBND on implementing urgent measures to prevent and control African swine fever and other dangerous diseases in livestock.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns; directors of departments, heads of functional agencies to urgently organize and synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control African swine fever, dangerous diseases in livestock and poultry, and deploy vaccination for livestock in the first phase of 2025.
