Accordingly, to prevent fraud through impersonation calls, the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) have directed the implementation of issuing voice brand names for phone numbers that are hotline numbers of units under the MIC, and issuing voice brand names for fixed and mobile network operators such as VNPT, Viettel, MobiFone, FPT... This solution also helps people to be more vigilant against the methods and tricks that subjects often use to commit fraud.
Fraudulent calls and messages have increased recently.
Previously, some subjects used fake landline and mobile phone numbers, claiming to be from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Police, the Procuracy, Banks, Telecommunications Network Operators, etc. to call people's landline and mobile phone numbers to collect information to threaten and defraud them, thereby appropriating their property. This phenomenon is on the rise and becoming increasingly complex, causing public outrage and affecting the activities of many agencies, organizations and individuals.
The use of identifiers has been completed by units under the Ministry of Information and Communications since October 20 and will start displaying "BO TTTT" from October 27. The identifiers of network operators will be displayed depending on the network operator, for example VNPT, VinaPhone (Vinaphone network); VIETTELCSKH (Viettel network); FPT SHOP (FPT network), LOCAL (ASIM network)...
Phone numbers calling people claiming to be units under the Ministry of Information and Communications or network operators but not displaying their identification names are all fake phone numbers, showing signs of fraud.
When receiving calls from fake phone numbers, people need to report to the numbers receiving reports on spam calls and calls with signs of fraud of the Ministry of Information and Communications, which are 156, 5656, or report to the network operator managing their subscription to request handling.
