In the context of life where everything becomes urgent and hurried, quiet moments to think about father-child love seem like an extremely necessary step of silence.
Modern life is increasingly difficult and hard, causing people to often forget the values of family. For that reason, the writing contest “Father and Daughter” organized by the Vietnamese Family magazine has become a bridge for the love that is difficult to express in words.
Journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that over the past two seasons, there have been thousands of articles sent by children to their fathers, which are letters written by fathers to their children with feelings that they normally find difficult to share.
“We often say that fathers love their children very quietly, but it is not easy to express it directly to each other. Through the pages of paper and the pen, they have the opportunity to confide. These stories are not necessarily good literature, not necessarily as interesting to read as the works of writers, but they are true stories, touching to tears” – Journalist Le Quoc Minh said.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that the writing contest "Father and Daughter" is like an encouragement for fathers to try to write down what they think about their children, or daughters to boldly express and share what they think about their fathers while they still have the chance.
Perhaps everyone realizes that such father-child feelings need to be expressed every day, need to be expressed earlier when parents are still healthy, but sometimes in life it is very difficult to express, even when there is a chance to say it, it becomes too late.
The President of the Vietnam Journalists Association confided that he personally has a daughter and always pampers and loves her wholeheartedly. There are business trips where he needs idol CDs or DVDs or when his daughter asks for copies of her homework in the middle of the night, he will do anything to get them for her.
Journalist Le Quoc Minh shared: “10 years ago, I sent my child to study abroad. He was strong, but I just wanted to cry. Although my child came home to visit and called me often, I lived far away from him for 10 years. The other day, on his birthday, March 7, I sat and remembered every moment from the time he was born until now. I told him, 'Tomorrow half the world will belong to women, but today the whole world belongs to you.'
Assessing the significance of the writing contest organized by the Vietnam Family Magazine, the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that the love between father and daughter is truly a sacred feeling but it is difficult to fully express it without writing contests like “Father and Daughter”.
“Therefore, this writing contest should be extended, spread throughout society, and encourage many participants. We can easily see that there are older people who have many memories, memories, and very good stories. Young people sometimes do not have time to sit down but will certainly have their own stories. Childhood memories of their hometown or stories of studying or working far away, etc. This will help us preserve family values, help members bond more and overcome the troubles of life,” said journalist Le Quoc Minh.
According to the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, after 2 times of organizing the contest, although it has received many articles and has had a certain spread in society, it has not yet achieved the expectations set by the organizers as well as what we want.
“Thousands of such articles do not fully reflect the feelings of tens of millions of people in society towards their parents or of fathers towards their daughters. But taking the first steps is important, after 3 seasons the spread will be wider. It is not only through the platforms of the Vietnamese Family magazine but other press agencies also contribute to spreading this contest.
Not only professionals but also non-professionals and ordinary people are participating more and more, the meaning of preserving family values is more effective, helping us overcome difficulties in daily life" - Journalist Le Quoc Minh commented.
Therefore, the message: "Don't let the words of love for parents be too late" is expected to create a new breakthrough in the third time the "Father and Daughter" writing contest is held.
