From the second day of Tet, cruise tickets in Ha Long are being sold at prices 20-25% cheaper than usual, in order to attract more customers.
The Tet holiday lasts 7 days, so people have many travel options. It is noted that on the 3rd day of Tet, some tourist destinations in the Northeast have not received many visitors. Some sellers have started to "clear rooms" to welcome more visitors and cut losses, especially with high-end tourism products.
Mr. Hoang Minh, the owner of a company specializing in booking domestic tourism services, is holding a large amount of Ha Long cruise funds that need to be sold quickly. From February 13 to February 14, he has 34 seats left on a 5-star cruise that runs by the hour, so he has reduced the price to only about 1.5 million VND per seat.
In addition to the yacht, he also has a large number of rooms left at some resorts and hotels such as Vinpearl Resort & Spa Ha Long, Novotel Ha Long Bay, Sea Star Hotel Ha Long, FLC Grand Ha Long, and À La Carte Ha Long Bay. Mr. Minh said that if he cannot sell all the remaining rooms soon, he will suffer a large loss during this holiday. The room clearance was recorded from the afternoon of February 11 (the 2nd day of Tet), the selling price was about 20-25% cheaper than usual.
Previously, Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Thao, Commercial Director of Mustgo, a booking platform with 2,000 hotel partners nationwide, commented that the availability of cruise rooms during Tet "depends on the ability to market to the international tourist market". If this step is done well, some cruise ships can still be fully booked.

Mr. Pham Ha, Chairman of Lux Group - a unit specializing in cruise ships - said that his two cruise ships Emperor Cruises Ha Long and Emperor Cruises Nha Trang were 90% full during the holiday. Another cruise ship of Lux Group, Heritage Cruises, was suspended until February 13 (the 4th day of Tet).
Before Tet, the booking platform Mustgo recorded a below-average number of guests booking rooms in Quang Ninh during Tet. Hotels of 3 stars and above had an occupancy rate of 30-40%. Cruise products were more popular with guests, reaching over 80% occupancy.
The slow sales situation also occurred at some homestays and villas in the suburbs of Hanoi, which were almost empty during the holiday. Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, owner of the Anbooking system - a unit managing more than 50 villas and homestays in the suburbs of Hanoi - said that the occupancy rate of the entire system was only about 20-30%. Bungalows for 2-3 people were more popular, while large villas for groups of more than 10 people had "very few customers". Ms. Thuy expected the occupancy rate to improve when companies held parties before returning to work.
The representative of this unit explained that due to the long holiday, tourists tend to travel far away for spring, instead of just renting a villa for vacation. Therefore, the mountainous areas in the North or the Central provinces will receive a good number of visitors from Hanoi.
