Oil depot fire in Rostov

The offensive also targeted the Kirov region, about 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) northeast of the border with Ukraine, authorities said on Wednesday.

“There are no casualties,” Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev said on the Telegram messaging app about the attack in the Kamensky district. “Firefighters are extinguishing the fire.”

Russia's Defense Ministry said Russian air defense units destroyed four drones over the area overnight, but made no mention of the attack on the oil depot.

Earlier, the Baza Telegram channel, which has close ties to Russian security agencies, said three or four tanks caught fire at the Kamensky oil depot after two drones were launched into the area.

Videos posted on Russian social media showed what appeared to be large storage tanks on fire at night. A fuel depot in the Kamensky district was also attacked in early August.

Wednesday's attack came as fuel tanks were still burning at another oil depot in Rostov's Proletarsk district, some 10 days after the Ukrainian attack.

In another development, regional Governor Alexander Sokolov said drones attacked an oil products storage facility on Wednesday in the town of Kotelnich in Russia's Kirov region.

Sokolov said the attack did not cause any casualties or fires at the warehouse. He said two UAVs were shot down, while three crashed into the warehouse area and caught fire but were quickly extinguished. The fire did not spread to fuel storage facilities.

Separately, Alexander Gusev, governor of Voronezh, which borders Ukraine, said debris from a drone launched by Ukraine into the area caused fires “near explosive objects” but there were no explosions.

Governor Gusev said on Telegram that the fire had been extinguished and people were returning to their homes in two settlements that had been evacuated. The Russian Defense Ministry said eight attack drones had been destroyed in the Voronezh region.
